Pump shoe and intake grate for a 144 mm swap

Will a 144 mm pump shoe fit in an fx1? Will I have to grind the hull?

If so will a superjet intake grate fit? I've noticed the superjet grate is held by two bolts at the back, while the fx1 has 1

You can modify the FX1 shoe to work with the 144 pretty well, utilizing the FX1 grate and driveshaft and moving the pump inserts to match the 144.

As Yamanube mentioned, it can and is a lot of grinding, been riding that setup for 5 years. I have another with a 144 Pump and tunnel grafted that seems to pull better and utilizes a SJ driveshaft, something to consider with limited availability of FX1 shafts, also utilizes SJ intake grate.
Next FX1 project is going to have the Kawi 140 setup though, eliminates the mid shaft hassle. Had one I got from th mafia and it pulled very good. IMO unless you’re in the surf don’t bother (opinion)!

Mine has the 144 pump shoe in it. Was done by some professional builder though, not me.

@SALTDOG would you mind expounding on this statement? I have found many build/swap threads but very few people talk about the differences after the swap.

Also, is there a benefit to just changing the impeller in the stock FX-1? And if so which impeller is recommended. And what are its benefits and detriments? E.g., increases/decreases bottom end torque vs. increases/decreases top end speed, vs. increases/decreases hook up all through the rpm, etc., etc., etc.

Help would be appreciated.

Yes it was years ago so I forgot the size impeller but go with one with more bottom end that’s my opinion I like it when you come down from a huge wave and the ski pops right up
