300/440/550 Need to quiet down my ski

Ski is too loud!!!(getting old) the ski is a stock 91 550sx aside from an aftermarket water box. It isn't much of a water box tho. It's pretty much a u shaped pipe with an straight through oval center section that could hold 3-4cups of water.
It really woke this ski up after installing. I understand the consequences of not having a true water box(introducing water into the engine).
I'm wanting to introduce more water into the water box with a supplied fitting on the outlet of the water box itself. I think I read somewhere on the X that this is a possible option in noise reduction.
The ski only has one water supply line from the pump(stock ski) . What would be the best way to do this without sacrificing cooling to the engine.
I figure I will need a ball valve or a restrictor somewhere in this circuit. Just don't know where I should put the tee.
Any ideas??

Use the bypass line going overboard or T off line going from head to head pipe (bypass - this a good mod anyhow) and send some of that water to throw resonator.

Put in a rear exhaust. My X2 went from loud and abnoxious rattle to deep throaty. I did have some changes, like from a 750 SP to a 750 BP and a single 44 to duals 44s, but none of this should affect sounds.

I simply went from a B-pipe, superjet waterbox and B1 exhaust in the stock X2 location (except on the right side) to exactly the same thing but a rear exhaust. Completely changed the volume of the noise and the tone. No more smoke or water in my face anymore.

The ski already has rear exhaust. It's not loud to me or the rider but to everyone on land. Just don't want it to become an issue later down the road.
