Custom/Hybrid Melmack's very unique 300sx build

Rode today. I did at least 15 rolls. Several where plate to plate. I managed to almost ride one out. Still lacking that initial pull out of the hole so it falls on its face just when you need it most. One of the rolls was on completely flat water. Amazing how this lightweight ski and hull can be flipped around like an expensive after market hull but only have around 40hp. Sidsol and I got some footage. My helmet cam didn't really show much from my POV but hopefully Sid's cam caught a few. I'll post em up when we get em.

On another note, some interesting development with our motor. It looks like we might have to build this thing ourselves to make this a reality. At any rate, that will make licensing easier and the ski more affordable.

This is all I have for now of our ride the other day. I rolled till my back went out. Fun stuff. More video to come. Definitely not getting high enough yet.

Well, I guess Sid never found better footage on the rolls. I am awaiting a quote for a special custom hull from The Ski clinic and possible one other hull builder. Once we have something solid from them, I will let you guys know whats going on. There are some set backs on the actual prototype motor. The company that was suppose to manufacture some has backed out or delayed due to lack of funding. It may be up to us to pony up the $ to produce the motors ourselves. This would be great because we would acquire the tooling to produce infinite motors at a much lower cost but, would be very expensive up front. I have the credit, but without a working prototype, I can't get investors to bite. So, it may take a while to get the motor worked out. This is going to take some time. Once We get a hull, I may go another route to get a completely different engine that is basically the same idea but from another manufacturer. This would be for testing only and would serve to prove the design works. This will cost about 7k instead of 15k for our prototype. This motor only makes about 48hp but weighs about 30lbs total. It cannot be made to produce much more power. This would limit the ski to a rec ride only ski. It would have similar power to weight as a stock 62t 701 SJ because the complete ski would weigh only 225 lbs ready to run. The motor we are currently working on will be produce way more power. Up to possibly 190hp.

So, there's an update for you. I will definitely try to keep this site updated however, the next few months may be a little slow to develop. Please chime in on your thoughts. I need as much input and support as possible.

You may want to edit out or vagueify some of the specs in your post, makes it too easy for google to lead one to a likely candidate. As for that more powerul engine which I would prefer, have you thought about crowdsourcing it to the community with NDA agreements concerning the individual components? Many of the guys here have access to some high tech equipment, at least for the prototype and investor funding.

If they figure it out then so be it. I'm doing this to keep our sport alive. If someone else wants to pony up the money and produce these motors, there's nothing I can do to stop them. Nor would I try at this point. The info I have provided may very well give away what we are doing. The fact is that I have already told several people exactly what we are doing. I'm not trying to keep it super secret. We just don't have anything in stone right now and I don't want to mislead anyone. Once I have a prototype built, I will divulge many more details. From there, anyone with a PC can find out what we are doing. Right now we are many steps ahead of anyone that may try to copy us. We are working directly with the only company that can produce our prototype without spending millions in R&D. If someone else figures this out and wants to build these motors before we can, I would be happy to see it done. I would love to turn this into a business but in reality, there are a ton of hoops to jump through to get it done. I do not have the capitol to do so by myself at this point. I appreciate your concern.

I know that's 48hp but that's a naturally aspirated 48hp. Turbos would lag too much but a supercharger and/or nitrous would add to the braaaap and sadly the complexity.

The bolt on power will add CCs.
How?
and I was referring to turbos on your wankelish prototype being a power adder with undesirable characteristcs for freestyle. A Supercharger or Nitrous would have the correct attributes for freestyle.

This is the quadski of rotary jet skis:

I'm so glad you aren't doing anything like that ^
