Leg Dragging

I'd say if you started riding 440-550s you know how to legdrag. That's how to you get a more effective turn. Your leg acts as an "anchor" and lets the ski "swing" around the turn. It's a b!tch on you muscles in you legs, groin and core area. If you ride a SJ or SXR you don't need this technique, but is a fun trick.
I use it on the X2 time to time....

I leg drag WHERE EVER I go.. most of the time they are almost knee drags..
If im not making a setup wake im "sit" turning or leg dragging..

it is more of a racing/high speed thing. I can do it on a superjet but it is not necessary on an SXR. like others said it adds stability on the high speed corner via the anchor effect. The deeper chines of the newer skis allow them to handle well enough that leg dragging adds no benefit over leaning outside of the tray and keeping both feet in the tray.

Its all about the surf!

I friggen love Leg dragging! Living in Oceanside I’m mainly a surf rider and so I rarely get a chance to ride flat water. When I do it’s a real treat- Kinda like the flat water guys getting to ride the surf! Haha! I like Leg dragging so much that I keep an SXR on hand just to carve and Leg drag my brains out! Like already mentioned, with the newer hull designs it’s not necessarily advantageous on the race scene anymore but it’s fun as hell from a rec point of view.

My favorite ass drag , by CJ3

Thats a awesome pic! Thanks for posting. I can tell that was taken on the Parker Strip right in front of Echo Lodge resort.

I remember when Rick Roy invented that surf move on the SJ.. He does it in this video I have from 1997 at the Westcoast nationals..

I used to do the leg drag when I raced the 650sx and 750SX Kawis back in the early 90's..(Yes, Im old). That and hanging your ass and body in the water while turning was the only way to get those old Kaw's to crank a turn tight.

Victor Sheldon was the master of the leg drag turn! Here he is putting the moves on a SXR.

You should make a how-to on how to do it if you know! I can't really think of how to hold just the right part of the bar for that turn.
