I still like my 9mm G17 because I shoot it the best out of all of my calibers. military and law enforcement see the pistol as a means to get to your long gun. My CCW is a pistol because my double barrel won't fit on my belt

You should try looking at a 22tcm 22tcmr. There now making barrels for g17. It's one hard hitting round at 2,000 fps out of a five inch barrel.

Yes and no, there's compromises to using heavier rounds. Take the 5.56 round for example. They produced the mk262 round for the long range accuracy, but it loses its ability to fragment at a shorter range due to the ballistics of the bullet; therefore reducing how effectiveness at shorter ranges compared to the green tip.

Best carry rounds are Hornsby critical defense with chemically bonded projectiles. If you are looking at Home Defense that is a whole other conversation ofn a laundry list of considerations.

I dont carry but watch a youtube channel Active self protection a lot and it seems size isnt what matters as much as capacity.
He has a wealth of knowledge for anyone who carries.

Having it on you. It can't be locked in your house or vehicle. It has to be on you. Yes every video i have ever saw not one person every asked what caliber it was before or after the indecent.

The type of round determines the penetration of the round. The FBI ballistics lab test ammunition and I have the info if anyone wants it, but they test rounds on getting through 7 layers of denim. There are hollow points out there that fragment before impacting tissue.

If you like to shoot and want to improve on pistol Travis Haley has a drill called the Venti 100. I love it.

The correct answer is .50DE. Doesn't matter if you are shooting cheap lead ball or fancy hollow points. Or where you hit them for that matter.

On a side note a guy here in the town over was practicing dry firing and left one in the chamber of his 9mm glock. It went through his dual pane window, his neighbors window, through the neighbors drywall and eventually stuck into a 2x4 in the wall. It was the cheapo ball ammo from walmart.

I'm new to handguns but have been told the velocity of 9mm is like no other.
ATM I'm deciding to buy 115 or 124 bullets. I only shoot target

I'm buying by the 1000( better deal ). I dont shoot often. Been using 115 last few times. Think I'm still too inexperienced to notice grain - weight nuances
