300/440/550 Kawasaki 550js winter Project

Now the main issues/worry
I'm not sure how this part is called but i guess its holds the shaft in place and acts as a seal to prevent water from getting in.
From the pic below you will see some sand in the hole with the bearing.
Two questions,
1, Should i replace the bearing and seal? what are they called and where can i get it if it needs replacing.
2, Is there a special way to bolt it back to ensure a water tight seal??
3, Is there a special way to put the shaft back in and would it need balancing/ centering??

Thx

I believe its the carrier seal (at least thats what its called on XP's). If that rubber gets ripped or stops sealing, you better have a big bilge pump because the water is just going to flood in. The parts shouldnt be too bad. When you put either this one or a new one on use a lot of sealant like 3M 5200 marine sealant. Not sure about balancing/centering. Oh and about the rejetting the carb, Its buying new jets for it because either they are bad or not the proper size for what you need. if you take the carb apart the jets are the brass cylinders that can be screwed in and out, they have numbers on them.

Hey guys,

Ive got a little problem. Well i'm not sure but it doesn't make sense to me. When i turn the handle right the pump nozzle goes left. Is that normal? Or what did i do wrong?

Here is a pic

Is that how it show be?
Thx

Lol no i'm serious, Well i think i figured it out and that it is correct. But what confused me was that my Seadoo XP is the opposite of this... lol... Happy to have made you laugh:p

Also. I was able to get the other engine going. My question is what fuel/oil mixture should i use. Only ran it for a minute with the fuel mixture from my outboard.
And should i run it with 98, 95 or 91?
Thx

I always use 98 @ 40:1. So 20 litres to 500ml of oil. When I got my first ski I did the same thing, it didn't look right to me either.

Hi guys,

Its been a while. Well the ski has been built and put back together

Although i have a reed that has a small gap because somehow a chunk of paper got stuck in it.

So since i got the engine back in, I was able to get it started but i can't get it to run right. It idles but on acceleration it suffocates and seems to want to stall. So not sure if its because of the reeds or not tunes properly. Any tips on how to tune it? I've used the factory needle settings but can't get it right!

So i'm looking for some reeds or maybe a complete intake setup with a better carb/carbs, intake manifold etc
Thx

Running lean, do not ride it like that. Did you rebuild the carb? Which parts in the carb did you change? It's best to use as many of the old parts as you can so you don't change the jetting or popoff by accident.
