So I waxed and put pva on my hull under the rails. Then I mixed up some milled fibers and microballoons and white pigment to add some material for a perfect match up where it will bolt up. I would have used cabosil instead of microballoons to avoid the reddish color but I didn't have any. I plan to paint it anyways.

I will still have to reshape the area with a grinder to make a smooth transition for water flow.
I also used a small dremel bit to get all the surface defects ready for some filler. Almost there.View attachment 330309 20170318_120950.jpg 20170318_120941.jpg 20170319_162645.jpg 20170319_162655.jpg

Fresh off the ski. If this isn't pretty I don't know what is. I'm thinking the "pretty in pink plate". I mean, just look at the sexy details from under my rails carried over to the plate. She's sexy.

Rough shaping completed with a handheld electric grinder for that precision perfect line effect. I ramped the leading edge under the rails and the edge along the rails in order to minimize drag and handling changes. Then I cleaned it up with acetone and filled the imperfections with marine tex.
Next is final sanding, bolt holes and some paint. I plan to use nothing but the best rattle can paint on this part. No expense will be spared for my pretty baby.20170320_184529.jpg 20170320_184534.jpg 20170320_184539.jpg 20170320_184544.jpg 20170320_191557.jpg

How well does the finished product work timson? Which model freak did you make it for?
Sorry to derail the post. Tem made a handful, only two I'm aware, adjustable hulls. It was up to the builder to make the ride plates. My Circus has it too.

After many, many cycles of filling and sanding this was how it looked immediately before some rattle can epoxy paint and immediately after I learned first hand what pinholes are. There were a lot of air voids to fill. Vacuum bagging would have saved me quite a bit of work but I dont have the equipment. It was functional straight from the molds but making it reasonably presentable is ridiculous work. At this point in debating even trying to fill the pin holes because it will just get scratched up from beaching anyway. This is a surf ski.20170404_085016.jpg 20170404_085024.jpg 20170404_085031.jpg 20170404_122048.jpg

Go buy some 3m spit filler, it's green, not red like Bondo brand. Get plastic spreader. Spread all over applying pressure. The wet sand. Paint done.
