Factory (Limited) Pipe Worth It?

Tell me why spending 749.99 on a factory pipe for my 2017 SJ is worth it..

I am trying to sell myself on it and having a difficult time finding examples of the benefits.

Thanks

Way better than the boat anchor stock exhaust

It's definitely sexy. Since you have a 2017, was the improvement immediately noticeable?

Also, how many beers did it take to install this and do you have any recommendations after the fact? I will be pulling the trigger on the limited from the factory website.

Thanks

Yes it is immediately noticeable. I had it in a box brand new for about 3 months before it was finally installed. Kicked myself for not doing it sooner.

Due to my work load and travel at the time I just paid the +/- $150 to have a shop install it and tune it.

I’ve installed plenty of b pipes before and they’re super easy. I’d say 4 beers during and a fat joint afterwards to celebrate and you’re good to go

keep it simple
100% worth it. you just need to do it properly otherwise it's going to cause headaches.

some things to keep in mind..... make sure you grind down the front corner of the bed plate so it doesn't put a hole through your brand new chamber. Also don't forget to change the jets in the carbs and add T handle tuning screws.

The hardest part will be getting the plugs out to replace the tuning screws. im sure someone has done a write up on it.

to do it properly the cost is going to be $900-$950 in parts after you factor in a flow control valve, new water line, t handle screws, primer (you have to remove the choke), and new jets.

side note! don't cut your stock exhaust hose for the 90 degree bend to the waterbox. that hose is worth like $100 because everyone cuts theirs! just buy the blue silicon 90!

definitely get a 6-12 pack and a bag of ganja like rhugo suggested

B-Pipe, aftermarket head and a good aftermarket impeller change everything about the 701 in an SJ. Limited chamber is the one I prefer to use because it makes the low end hit much better. FP B Pipe is worth every nickel.

If you seriously can't find the benefit on this forum and riding other examples then I'm not sure how we can convince you. A plethora of extra HP for $750 is a pretty good deal in the grand scheme of things.

How many is a plethora? (seriously... do none of the pwc aftermarket companies have a dyno??)

"Our stock SuperJet went 44.6 mph at 6,200 rpm. After installing only a Factory Pipe with the recommended jetting, the same boat went 48.3 mph at 6,700 rpm. A gain of 500 rpm and 3.7 mph by changing only the pipe! The Factory Pipe 701 SuperJet comes complete with our exclusive tunable headpipe, aluminum chamber, tuned exhaust manifold, and all required hardware."

That is also on a 61x motor. With a 62T/61x SJ motor you will see more gain.

But seriously... if I wanted to understand how it changed anything but top speed (which I don't care the slightest about), I would want to look at a before and after hp and torque curve... which is SOP for almost every other power sport manufacturer group.

I can't provide you torque or actual HP numbers. However, top speed increase is the least of the benefits gained by a FP Limited pipe on an SJ. Throttle response, acceleration and the low end hit are the improvements I feel are best enhanced by the pipe. This is the single most effective bolt on item for a SJ you can add. If that is not enough to explain the benefits without HP/torque numbers, I am sorry.. There is a reason this is the preferred pipe by nearly anyone that has ever upgraded the exhaust on a SJ of any year or engine configuration. Period.

I get it... just disappointing given all that... no one has ever published actual data instead we have feelings.
