These are 2021 models, not 2020 models, so the timing makes sense. The models will just probably be hitting dealers by the end of fall, ready for sales through the winter and into next year.

Some info released today mentioned that it is 132 pounds lighter than the competitor ski (aka the Kawi sxr1500 which is 550lbs dry weight) so that would put it right around 420lbs dry. I think that’s an awesome number to hit considering an sxr1100 is right around 440. The leak also mentioned it was 10 inches shorter than the sxr1500, meaning it would come in right around 94”. The sxr800 is 90” for reference..
I am pretty content with those specs and very excited to see it, but then again, I’m one of those “Havasu buoy dorks”.

At the end of the day this ski needs to compete with the Sxr1500 in terms of performance AND price point seeing that most of their sales come from your average rec rider, not racers or enthusiasts. I can’t imagine Yamaha would price it thousands of dollars more than the Sxr. They would be shouting themselves in the foot at that point. Sxr’s can be bad for 9-10k otd and I would be surprised if the superjet were not priced in that realm.
I dont know, I see so many yamaha riders spend ludacris amounts on custom hulls and stuff and I assumed neither company actually makes profit off standups they just keep making them to keep the racing/enthusiast image.

Correction: you see *enthusiasts* spending ludacris amounts of money on custom hulls and stuff.
Enthusiasts make up just a tiny percentage of actual sales, so it would be foolish for a large corporation to tailor their pricing to just what a batch of enthusiasts will spend on something. The vast majority of new jetski sales are to general consumers aka rec riders, guys you see at the lake just cruising around, and not enthusiasts.
At some point their business decision would need to pay off, and I can guarantee you that if Yamaha was actively losing money producing the superjet every year they would not keep producing it just to appease the small group of enthusiasts
