FIGURED IT OUT
I am trying to identify what engine I got in my ski.
I know it is a 62T case but trying to figure out if it's an sj or another type.
this is the engine sticker not the best pictures but hopefully it helps.
From what was in the ad when I bought it. It has a 701 bored to 710, Group K milled head, Carbon reeds, and B-pipe. Skat 9/17 prop
I had a couple of issues with the ski since I got it.
Started out with overheating issue. Which ended up being a restrictor in the water line running to one of the pissers. I switched to dual cooling after removing the restrictor to be safe. Waters here range between 75-87 degrees.
Second problem was my tank not running on the ON switch. only ran on reserve.
Turns out the hose in my fuel pickup was too small of diameter and restricted flow. so I took it off and now I have a working reserve.
My latest problem came up after I tuned my B-pipe.
I have the bottom and mid closed and top at 3/4 open. This made a night and day difference on the engine's snappyness and low-mid range response.
The problem now is when I pin the throttle 3-4 seconds it feels like the engine wants to push more but won't. The ski is a freeride ski so i'm not going around pinning the throttle for long periods. It doesn't really bog, but sounds similar but yet different. Cant really find a way to describe it. Closest i could get was a turbo car overboosting.
I did a compression test today both cylinders are at 135-140 psi.
I was thinking it might be my carbs that need some tuning. or it's not getting enough gas. Which made me remember that my fuel lines running to the ON/Reserve switch is the same diameter as the smaller hose in the fuel pickup picture. Thought the engine might not be getting enough fuel on high rpm's. I am switching those out this week to the correct size.
A member that has been a HUGE help to me solving these issues pointed out that it might be my rev limiter kicking in.
I want to run higher compression to get some more power but I need to know what engine this is.
If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
