I have a 92 SN with a fresh 701 61x/61x that has a crack in the tray and it is taking on water pretty bad. My intentions were first to fix the hull, but I found a pretty good deal on a 95 SN hull that has a bunch of goodies; x-metal pole, fully reinforced and reformed nose, versiplug, footholds, etc. etc.
My question is where should I start with this project? I am most likely going to fix the 92 hull in the future so
I was going to leave as much of the steering components as I can there, besides the start/stop switch and possibly the throttle cable. I don’t have much experience pulling pumps , I’m guessing I should start with the pump? Also should I pull the motor out of the 701 before I pull my ebox or does the ebox need to be removed first? I heard that the ebox can be a challenge to remove, any tricks. Any tips at all will be much appreciated. PS I have already purchased the larger midshaft bearing assembly, the assembly I received from Jetmaniac came with 2 O rings, where do these go? Also shimming the pump and motor, any tips on this? Thanks guys!

Pump can go out and in at any point, easiest to pull the motor and the ebox at the same time and keep them together because the stator is hard wired into the ebox. Just put the stuff in the new hull in the opposite order you took it out of the old one. It wont take long if you have everything you need and your not changing anything. I think its easiest to shim the back of the motor until the coupler is radially aligned then shim the front until the angle is right, I just do this by making sure the gap is even top to bottom.

The o rings are probably the ones that go in the midshaft, to seal where the driveshaft splines enter.
Can you explain a little further on where these two O rings go? I’ve got the motor and everything out including tank and waterbox. Giving everything a good wash and plan on starting to swap everything to the new hull. When I got my larger midshaft bearing assembly from @JetManiac he gave me two rubber o-rings with the assembly. Do these go onto the midshaft or driveshaft?

One more question. The new hull has a aftermarket x-metal handlepole, everybody is telling me I will need a RN steering cable? What is the difference between a RN and SN steering cable? I have a cold fusion steering assembly if that helps at all. I will post some photos soon.

There are two o rings that go inside the midshaft, and seal to the driveshaft, to contain grease in the splines. You have to remove the midshaft assembly from the hull to access these. Number 4 in the drawing I linked, they go inside machined grooves in the end of the midshaft or number 3 in the drawing, and seal to the driveshaft, not pictured. I assume these are what you are asking about.

RN steering cable is shorter. I think the RN cable has more pull too

Thank you for sending the link, so if I’m reading this and looking at this correctly these o- rings will go inside the female spline side of my midshaft? Before I mate the driveshaft to the midshaft? I removed my old midshaft assembly and could not find any o-rings in the female side of the shaft. Anybody in the Sacramento Ca area have a shop press they I could use or anybody know where I could go to get my midshaft removed from my old assembly and pressed onto my new bearing?

I see the o rings now in the machined grooves on the midshaft, thanks for the help. Any ideas on where I can take this to get my midshaft pressed out of this old housing and into the new one? I cannot just beat it on with a hammer I’m assuming...(wish I knew a mechanic)
