'93 Stock blaster, 61x worth modifying?

Hey folks.

New to blasters and my previous ski was a stock 2010 superjet, that I loved.

Just picked up a '93 wb1. Is it worth modifying the ~63hp 61x? Or should I try to find a 62T, drop it in and call it a day? Not looking to do anything nuts here - but i'm used to the braap of my sj and would like this take off when I hit it.

Would a pipe and jets do the job or do I need a larger carb with a pipe?

Thank!!

I like the 61x. I added a factory pipe, head and impeller to mine The stock impeller is good if it's in good shape. It's pretty hard to find a pipe right now. I would recommend riding it and enjoying until things get back to normal and you can pick up a factory pipe for a reasonable price.

Sounds good man. Stock impeller is in mint shape, so good to hear! Are you still running the stock single Mikuni?

If you like going fast I would leave it stock and keep your eyes out for a 62t bottom or buy the cases off eBay and swap your crank and stator over and then do pipe, carbs, head, porting. if you wanna put money in the 61x then just put money into the parts you can swap over to a 62t.

Good advice, I think the Last line there is key. Transferable Bolt on’s. Cheers man

None of these engines make much power without a good pipe. You will need to bore the nozzle and get your impeller pitched down for better low speed response.

Bored nozzle and what size impellar do you think for a blaster with a b pipe and waterbox? I have a solas 13/17 now but I don't want top speed I want it come out of the hole harder.

If your impeller is a concorde, have it pitched down. Impros was raising the trailing edge and calling it a 13/16, they work almost as good as the new large hubs. Stock plastic and straight walled metal nozzles cant be bored much. A common 62t nozzle or aftermarket Pro-tec can be bored much more. I have gone as large as 86mm with a siphon tube installed without losing top speed. The increase in low speed pull is noticeable. You need a pipe, use the stock muffler and learn how to tune your carb.
