750 SXI Pro vs SJ Turning

We have a 1999 750 SXI Pro and love how you can easily slide through turns into a tailspin. We also have a 2018 SJ and it is nearly impossible to breakfree in turns. We want to get a 2000-2007 SJ for added freestyle options, but want to determine the turning characteristics of the Older SJ as it's my son's favorite thing about the 750. I believe there is significant differences in handling from the 2000 SJs to 2018, but I'm not aware of the differences. Thanks
 
The only difference from the older rn hulls and the new ones is that in 2008 they changed the location of the intake grate closer to the back end of the ski besides that the old and new hulls are identical

I believe 08+ has a shorter pole, less steering throw, built in sponsons, the pump has been moved back in the Hull 2in and the rear of the Hull has been narrowed a bit to improve tracking through corners.

The only think identical is the top deck and hood.

The lower hull is completley different. This hull is designed more for freeriding and the race course. It is designed to hook up. The 96-2007 SJ will not handle like your 750. Kawasaki hulls are designed to "Carve" turns. The SJ hulls take turns more in a flatter profile, But will turn very well, you just have to adjust your riding style some. For Flatwater freestyle, The 96-2007 SJ hull is the best. Because it is flatter turning, you can be going 3/4 throttle, crank the bars lean in and the ski will do a 180 and slide backwards, or only go 90 degrees and slide sideways. The 750 will do this, but tends to "catch" a little.

Big Kahuna, that is what we are looking for. We love the turning feel of the 750, but the older SJ sounds like they have even more forgiveness for added freestyle options.

For old School Flatwater, The 96-2007 SJ is the best. throw on a lowered a lowered hood, shorter pole and lowered bracket (Xmetal makes a great pole and bracket combo) and footholds and your set. (Hullwise!!!!!!!!!!! Now on to motor mods!!!!!)
 
I must be mistaken, sorry guys I thought that the bottom deck was same besides intake grate position.....the more you know

i'm in love with my pre-08 SJ once I added destroyer 2 tubbies, pro watercraft rear sponsons, jet dynamics ride plate and solas pump, best of both worlds now, freestyle and carving boat!!!!!!
 
Thanks for the advice. We went with a 2000 SJ with some engine mods, lowered hood, Blowsion handlepole, tubbies and footholds. Love the power and freestyle feel with plenty to learn as my son ups his freestyle game.
 
More and more I think about selling my Edge and go back to a SJ, Dont know if it would be pre or post 08
I've got an 07 and an FS2 evo and I still love getting back on my superjet and railing turns. It's a nice break from the Rickter and I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.

I owned an sx as a first ski, felt like it carved way harder Than my pre SJ ever will but I dont miss it.
