Custom/Hybrid 300sx/144/701 build

Got a 300sx for dirt cheap and decided to start a build. Putting a 144 pump with a hooker prop. Powerplant will be a 701 bored 2 over, fully ported and polished, milled head, factory pipe, lightened flywheel. Should be fun when I finish

damn... clean looking build and nice glass work. I haven't followed many of these but I'll subscribe to this one.

Try to keep tabs on it and see what your cost winds up being in the end. Just wondering where you end up compared to a RTR BOB hull. Add the cost of the squarenose, resin, glass, your time, turf, paint....yada yada.

Not favoring either direction here, just wondering what the price point ends up being on a build like this.

I just wanna say nice glass work too. some of these builds drive me crazy with the shtty glass work, but hey, some are just starting out and will learn in the long run. Plus I dont say anything bad about someones build.
Anyways great job, cant wait to see the finished ski. Really like the job you did on the hood. Was that a bitch to split the liner/hood?

now that you chopped the hood, how are you going to set up vents for the engine? also looks like you cut out a lot of the hull around the ride plate. are you making a custom ride plate for it?

Thanks guys, im really surprised how my glass work has turned out lol all ive done before this was a set of foot holds on my fx1 and foot holds on one of my friends 550s.

Yea Ive been keeping tabs on everything. I got the 300sx for 200 and the sj for free from a friend, the story on the sj hull is that it was in the back of a truck and the people rolle the truck. when i got it from him, the nose and gun wales were all smashed. I got the motor for 500 and paid about 230 for all the glass and resin. Ill probably be into it only about 2200 or $2300 when im done. Hopefully all this work is worth it

I was thinking about making hand holds on the hood for vents kinda like what the aftermarket rn hoods have. No I dont think im gonna make a custom ride plate, Im just gonna cut a stock sj one to make it fit. Ill only be using 2 bolts to hold the ride plate on

I almost did that, but I was thinking that the fiberglass would just crack over time cuz of the weight of the engine and the force coming down hitting the water. Idk if that would really happen though. I just dont want to watch this thing sing to the bottom of the lake lol
