Well, back with the XFS came out a buddy of mine bought one. Well, in process of getting it dialed in something went wrong. We looked and looked and finially figured it out. The bed plate bolts came loose. After that everytime I saw someone say they bought one I would tell them to check. Chris's did not have any loctite. I talked with Taylor during my build and mentioned them, he said "They got that problem fixed"............. boy did they.

Unwinding, riding to my buddies house to get a few misc parts. Its always nice when the part you need is just a 5 min bike ride away. I cant even count how many trips like this we made :) Could have never completed this without the help from my friends!!!!!

Ready for the lake:
I had the dominator front sponsons installed at the factory. They did a great job on the install:
1) Glassing over the hardware on the inside of the hull
2) Sealing up the sponsons to the hull
3) Applying the OEM RRP graphics over the top
4) Clear coating over the graphcs.

Its a nice touch - If your considering front sponsons, I highly recommend asking for it when you order your hull.

Nice job man. I've got almost the same setup. You're probably going to want just a short ride plate as the Edge really rides nose down with the large rear sponsons.

I agree with the sponsons installed at the factory, so clean afterwards.

Securing to Trailer:
I have seen others mention this on the site, so I took my interpretation and thought I'd document it. I secure the front of the ski using the eye mount that came installed on the Rickter from the factory. For the rear I used 2 pool noodles (bought at dollar store) that I glued together with DAP contact cement then reinforced with Gorilla tape. in the center. I ran the ratchet strap thru the middle and trimmed each side to fit. My main concern was to keep the noodle long enough to protect the side rails when ratcheted. I drilled a hole in my trailer and one of the bunks to install a 1/2 in Stainless Steel Eye Bolts.

I don't know how well these will hold up but for $2 its well worth a try.

Forth ride, I'm finally starting to try stuff. Taking it slow. Cant wait to see what this does when I remove the rear sponsor and start giving it some gas!iFB_IMG_1560659346603.jpgFB_IMG_1560659350555.jpgFB_IMG_1560659353942.jpg

Some winter mods. Installed a flow guard and am adding some air into the engine compartment. Thrust scupper ball valve was installed over the summer. Definitely worth every penny spent.
Flow guard needed to be modified to fit the edge hull. I needed to cut the intake steering tunnel then used clay to make a mold to carbon that area to clear the hull. The flow guard was a real PITA.
For the air intake I used the clamshell scupper idea shared here on the x except I moved them back to the rear of the hood and ran hose to the nose to minimize water ingestion. I found them at replacementboatparts for about $35 each.20200219_085824.jpg20200219_085834.jpg20200219_090613.jpg20200219_085852.jpg20200219_090919.jpg20200219_090624.jpg

I have also been running the bpipe coupler20200219_094034.jpg mod. Am interested in seeing what gains I get with this and a flow guard. Some other little mods I want to test this spring are moving from a medium to short ride plate and replacing the standard torrent cone with a stubby cone. I'm running a 148 pump with a 10/17 prop

Few things I have noticed/changed since building my Edge in case your interested:

1) On super windy choppy days at the lake when there are 3 foot swells I bolt on the Rear sponsons and the ski is So much fun. The rear sponsons make this ski ride like a dream! After buying the ski I rode with the rear sponsons on to start then took them off and thought I would never use them again. Until recently if it was windy or super windblown choppy the ski was more work than fun. Its amazing how such a simple 5 minute bolt on part can totally change the way the ski rides on really crappy water. Its like adding training wheels onto the ski, definitely flattens out a chopped up lake.

2) Until recently I have been riding with a medium ride plate. Over the winter I purchased a short plate and finally installed it this week. I rode it yesterday on a somewhat windy choppy lake (w/o rear sponsons) . I honestly prefer the shorter plate. I think my setup wake is better (bigger) than with the Medium Plate. The ski is way more playful and fun so I plan to stick with a short plate. One thing I am still interested to try is the short plate with the rear sponsons on whitecap day. The transition between the two plates was seamless. For the record I weigh between 185 and 190.

3) 148- Torrent pump. My engine setup is a TPE 1021 with tnt pipe and Fs 48s and 87 mm reduction nozzle. I was running a 9/15 with a standard cone. This spun up quick but left me hanging then seemed to sign off. I changed to a 10/17 with the same cone and this was a great setup. Recently I swapped my standard cone with a stubby cone and this seemed to be the missing link for my pump setup.

4) Flow guard - Adding the flow guard with the B Pipe coupler mod is a complete success. Since adding the flow guard my B pipe Coupler mod has stayed intact. I used to go threw the B Pipe couplers every few rides now its just a great combo. Between this and the above changes I think I am dialed in on my pump now.

5) Adding the 2 extra Air intakes to the back of the hood have been amazing. This ski was definitely air hungry but I think I have resolved that problem now. They Air tube routing is working perfectly. I am not having and water injestion problems when doing tricks. Another fun thing is I can still do a fountain for days without worrying about taking water into the engine compartment. I know if I had installed the Ninja hood scoop water ingestion would be an issue. The air intake is a success!

6) I installed heal lifter wedges in my foodholds, this is a definite must. I will take a pic and share but its nothing different than what everyone else is doing.

7) Thrust ball valve - Since installing this I have had zero water intake issues when leaving the ski sitting on the scissor stand or floating in the water. I highly recommend this product.20200615_140857.jpg20200615_140819.jpg

Update - Rode the ski again with the short Ride plate / Rear Sponsons removed. This is the ideal setup for me over the medium plate. The ski is so much more playful and the setup wake is insane!!!! I guess going a little shorter allows the hull to drop into the water more pushing a bigger setup wake. The only thing I lose is a little hookup when carving fast turns. Once I figure out the break loose point and that will not be an issue. @KMN was dead on, I highly recommend a short ride plate on this ski (My weight is 185-190)
