Freestylefest 2013 will be held on September 28th.

Where: Bolles Harbor in Monroe, MI. (AKA "The Hothole")

When: Saturday - September 28, 2013

For those that dont know, the Hothole is a small area of water that the powerplant empties there cooling water into. This keeps it unseasonably warm through cold weather. This is usually one of the last chances to ride in Michigan. Last year it was in the low 50s and we were still out there staying warm.

Freestylefest is all about meeting new people, talking about riding and maybe learning from the experience. And above all...being safe and having fun.

I'm sure there will be a couple boats at the hothole for us to do some wake jumping as there is every year. Just remember to be safe.

***PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE WAKE JUMPING ETIQUETTE THREAD***

DIRECTIONS

Take 75 to the Laplaisance Rd. exit (#11). From there go straight across Laplaisance Rd. onto Waters Edge Dr. Follow that back to the parking lot and that is where we all put the skis in. From there just ride out of the no wake zone into Lake Erie and stay far far far away from the edge because of real thick seaweed, and then go straight into the Hothole. (DO NOT cut the corner, you will bottom out!!!) You can't miss the tall powerplant tower.

Also, a few of us usually meet up for breakfast the morning before the ride at 9:00AM.

Feel free to join us for breakfast if you are interested. We usually meet at the Big Boy located off I-75 South at Exit 15 Dixie Hwy, Turn right, and Big Boy is on left side about 50 yards from the exit. Can't miss it.

Roll call...Please post if you are going participate in this freeride.

Just an FYI!

Last year we cut the corner a bit, and had no issue dodging the seaweed on the way through.

I was just out there riding yesterday, and the seaweed is 10x worse then I've ever seen it. Had to stop multiple times to clean the pump out, and overheated a jetmate with a clogged pump. We went out further on the way back and had no issues! The water is nice and hot! See you guys next month!

im in, had a blast last year! i will let you know if anyone else is tagging along with me!

Are we not using that private launching area this year?
No we are not using the private island this year as that was our only option last year because the Bolles harbor launch was closed last year. This year it is open so we will use the Bolles harbor DNR launch as we have always done in previous years.

Weather pending, I know quite a few people that will be out there. Probably have no problem getting one of them to set a wake for us.

We're hoping to come, but we have cross country meet that day and my little sidekick son "Zane" runs the CC meet at 1pm. Zane had a great time last year, just hoping we can leave early enough to launch a reasonable time.

I am 95% in... I am supposed to work but working on switching out with someone else.

Clouse and I are a for sure if I can get work off.

Workin' on Swanny, Todd, and Joe.

I would also like to know if there will be a boat there that can cart fuel / beach stands.

I would also like to know if there will be a way to get extra fuel to the riding spot?

5 gallon jug in the front of the tray with a bungee across to the bondrails works. There is a pic around of me doing a nose stab at FSF with and empty jug in the tray.
True, and thats how I will ride out if I have to, But scissor stand would be nice. Maybe strap that to my back like a backpack. lol
