Im sure a group will show up to ride , I have been there several times now with no issues at all . You can ride in the hole or ride on the lake .. lots of room, i'll be there as well as others and we dont drink on the lake . Im sure the PO PO will stop by again as well ,I say go for it and judge for yourself .

Sounds like people are going to be there but no one has made any mention of "when". Do we have a date yet?

At RocknRide I also heard someone say it would happen. But that person also said they were going to be drinking and riding. Doesn't sound like I'll be going.

everyone bashes freestylefest cause people drink and ride.....seriously??...has nobody else here ever been to another freeride?? you can not possibly tell me there are not people having drinks and getting on there ski's in daytona..wave rave is good for people drinking and going out riding...just like i'm sure there's people that do it at every ride...or is it only cool if you keep your beer in a plastic cup like at wave rave so everyone can pretend it's soda...just the same goes for all the stoners around here..can't count the number of "safety meetings" that went on last time i was in daytona..then 20 minutes later they are out riding...cause everyone knows when your stoned it's cool to go ride cause then you are probably going slower and everyone has great balance while high...pfftt....people are going to drink at almost every ride..it shouldn't happen..but it will..the best anyone can do is try to monitor it and make sure people don't have too much alcohol and try to keep it at a minimum.....i don't drink anymore s i don't worry about it really....but i love how people can bitch about it at this ride then show up to others and not say :):):):)......freestylefest is a good time, and i enjoy that ride..the water is nice and there are plenty of good people.

I haven't been to any other rides where it was such a problem. I think that most rides being at a park/ public beach/ etc. makes it less acceptable. FSF (Hothole/Sunday only) has a rather remote location, and some people think they can do whatever they like - regardless of the danger they pose to others. And yeah, I've heard the argument "If you don't feel safe, just ride when they're not riding" which is bs. There's no controlling when anyone hits the water. Maybe it's the fault of the organizers, for making it completely acceptable to drink while riding at their events. Whatever the reason, it's chasing people away. Maybe the ride should get a new name, like "Freestyle Kegger" (I'm being sarcastic) Well, at least people would know what they're getting into. Ipperwash could keep the FSF name, since it's mostly unnafected.

I've been to a ton of freerides and helped start FSF, and no I've never seen anyone at another freeride drinking then riding immediately after. I'm sure it probably happens, but to see someone drinking quite a bit, then take off on their ski with no shoes, no vest, and try a backflip off a boat wake was the last straw for me and FSF. It's also a very confined area, so you can't 'ride in a different area' than those people.

Maybe it's normal for you, it's not for me and most people. Most people save the drinking for afterwards.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that. Since this Freeride has such a bad reputation with some ppl, let's try to change the image this year and make it a safe and fun event for everyone. Maybe someone will put a post up after this year's event about how they met a bunch of great ppl and everyone was responsible. Let's quit the debates and just do what we all love....RIDE

freestyle fest is a great time and i love it. I am in. Everyone should worry about them self and have fun.
That's exactly why the event is losing supporters. People ARE worried about themselves. Worried about their safety...
