Front Hood Latch FX1

The front hood latch on our newly acquired FX1 is not sufficient. It works but the leading edge of the bottom semi circle broke off, so it is a little short and does not meet/touch the upper semi circle when closed.

What is the best fix for this?

Is there a replacement latch?

Is there a re-engineered latch?

Blowsion has a Kawasaki 550sx kind of hood straps, but they would cover the little "glove box."

Cody Do you have a link for cold fusion or to the hood latch replacement. I have both their flywheel locks and I like using them. But I bought them from Blowsion as I have never been able to find cold fusion's website. And Blowsion does not list a cold fusion hood latch replacement.

Did the pin break that attaches the clip to the hinge? Do you still have both pieces? If so, I have replacement pins that are stainless steel that you could use to put your back together and back into service.

These photos were taken with latch fully closed. It looks like the leading edge of the lower jaw has broken off and the jaws don't fully close. I fell to the side surfing a boat wake today and the front latch pivoted sideways and let water in.

Maybe have someone in your area weld (a welder that knows what he’s doing) some of what’s missing and then grind it back into its original form

@JetManiac aniac sold me the Cold Fusion FX1 front hood bracket.

Update: It holds really really really well for my level of ski and fall flat water river riding.

You put the hood on to get the vent tubes oriented then lift up the back of the hood, then slide the Cold Fusion bracket under the handle pole hood latch bar and then buckle up the rear hood latch.

The way it is designed, the Cold Fusion FX1 latch puts downward pressure on the front of the hood where it meets the rubber hull rand "gasket."
