The tube for the driveshaft from pump tunnel to bulkhead

I'm not really sure what the proper name is, but I'll have to replace one pretty soon, looking for suggestions on what I should use and how to install/seal.

What to people use? Looks like it might just be pvc, but not a straight tube there is some kind of fitting so the end that attaches to the bulkhead is bigger in diameter to accommodate the mid shaft housing (?)

What hull? This is how I did my T1 1.250 conduit. The mid shaft mount should have been molded into the firewall
No extra fittings Glues it in with 5200 The rest should be self explanatory

UH.. yall have me nervous... My wdk rip does not have a sleeve. I just had my pump out and it is open in front of the pump tunnel. lol. There is no firewall so maybe it is a small chamber that fills up? any ideas lol the ski has not sunk yet...

WDK has an open bulkhead design. The bulkhead "box" is connected to the pump tunnel. Think it might be part of the layup of the hull. If it didn't your ski would sink very quickly

It's a fiberglass superfreak titan, the bulkhead is damaged and the tube is missing. I called Thrust and they said it's just a common pvc tube and fitting, so I should be able to get something that will work pretty easily, and since I'll be fixing the damage on the bulkhead I can kind of mold in whatever I want I guess.

Well, here's what I did.

Pealed back the turf and cut a hole in the tray for access.

There was enough of the undamaged bulkhead left that I could figure out the diameter of the tube and I found a PVC pipe and coupler fit perfectly.

5200 where it goes through the pump tunnel.

I don't have a picture of it but the inside of the bulkhead where the midshaft mounts has a round recess. I was able to cobble together a spacer about the right shape if that recess and then just sealed it and held it in place with duct tape. Filled in the area around the tube with thickened epoxy with chopped glass fibers, then backed that with a couple layers of glass. When that cured I added 5200 in the inside of the recess just in case the epoxy and glass doesn't seal on the PVC tube.

Then replaced the part I cut out of the tray and glassed it back in.

It would seem that the midshaft load would be spread across the entire mounting area and not push out that middle section. The area around the mounting hardware looks to be intact. Is the bulkhead still secured to the hull around the midshaft?

Good point. The bulkhead seems to be completely fine other than the damage right around the hole for the shaft. Maybe the center section of the midshaft came separated from the housing. Even then the drive shaft would kind of be in the way, and the pump mounting area is all in tact. Not sure what happened.

Bottom line is something is gonna break when smashing hard. Looks like a nice repair storbeck

@Sanoman or @air blair or whoever else.

How thick should I be going on the glass to patch that hole?

Right now I have a total of about 25oz. 1 layer of 2" wide tape at ~8 oz, 1 layer of 4 inch wide tape at ~8oz, and one layer of ~8oz glass over the whole thing. I'm thinking that might be not enough.
