Freestyle Advice on a SuperFlip or Superman Backflip

We had very nice surf in the spring. I got bored with minor tricks and I tried few SF, without the SF bars LOL. I landed poop. Was close on one, but my feet did not come back into the tray and I went over the nose while landing and hit the bars and pole with my shins. No harm done since I always wear shin guards. Flex flip much better choice or a scarecrow IMO.

need super flip bars and a limiting strap on the hand pole, I love the way the trick looks but with buying and putting extra stuff on the ski and the amount of risk is enough to keep me away

which trick in freestyle could u ever baby steps into it... ?? :0)

well, a one footed backflip or one handed flip instead of a 50/50 or flex flip
- can can flip instead of a madonna
-learning a nose stab before a barrel roll
-learning to surf ride

Many tricks/skills have steps of progression

A super flip on the other hand, get through the first bunch without breaking yourself and it will come. The first ones you do will either be small with bent knees or frog legged. Or stretched all the way out and you're not coming back because you didnt pull back in time.

I'd recommend some kneepads and a decent life jacket. A helmet that actually fits and wont leave your chin exposed if you hit your pole/hood.

Bunch of guys out there making it look easy. Check out what size lip they're hitting and how fast and go for it.

View attachment 357712I’ve recently been trying the superflip. Wish I’d done it at the end of the season and not the start. Ended up breaking my arm which has ruined my plans to get to World finals this year :(

Bummer you guys are doing some awesome riding. Did you break your arm doing something else or while riding? Hope for a speedy recovery

It was landing the super flip, as I hit the water I landed on the tray but my weight went forward and snapped my arm on the flip bars the bone was quite far out of place they said.

it took a lot of flipping with just the pole locked down at first, then flipping with the bars out, the gradual moving my feet out the holds until they were fully out, then stepping off the back.

even just locking the pole down made the flip feel so different.

cast comes off tomorrow so hoping I won't be off the water too long thanks.D3474DA2-FD22-4327-8FD1-E1148826C730.jpeg

Baby steps with that trick...you can hurt yourself real fast.
First get use to flipping with your pole locked down and flip bars out. Then you should be able to flip without your feet locked in at all. After you do that a BUNCH of times, take one foot out, then next flip take your other foot out. Switch off doing that for a while until you are comfortable. After that start letting both feet drift away from the tray. Do not throw both feet out, just let them drift away. After a while you can get your extension further and further away.
That trick will always bite you in the ass...just a heads up
