11-14-2006, 11:11 AM
I spoke to Jeff Curry for about an hour yesterday and he has a promotional idea that will pretty much blow your socks off....
Jeff Curry (Waterdawg Customs) will be donating a REV-12 hull (fiberglass vacumed), REV-12 Hood Kit, Waterdawg Billet Pole and REV-12 hood latch to the charity raffle...
Uh..... yeah, I just said that
The hull will be on site in daytona ready for delivery, so if you are the lucky person to draw the right ticket, you will go home w/ it. Simple as that.
Rules for entering:
$100 per raffle ticket, 3 for $200. Unlimited purchase
No owners, workers, or anyone *afiliated* w/ any aftermarket jets ski company is allowed to enter.
Tickets will go on sale saturday morning around 10am and the hull will be raffled off at around 6pm saturday night.
There will be distictive tickets made for this raffle as to not be confused w/ the standard raffle.
You will have to be on site in the Banquet room to accept the hull when it's raffled. (we will not go looking for you) we will pick another number, so be there.Keep this on topic...
thanks again to Jeff for comming up w/ this idea.
:cool2:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*As far as "affiliated" goes... That may have been the wrong word to use.
No owners or workers of aftermarket company's are allowed to enter. Including sponsors that are not participating in this Freeride and The Owners of X-H2O.com. I'm not even including myself in this and yes, it hurts.

Please keep this thread on topic. I'm sure everyone knows Jeff's past........

I REALLY think that this should be refined ALOT MORE. I have a good feeling that alot of tickets will be sold to affiliates that all of the sudden are not affiliated just for the contest
.02
Big Kahuna
11-14-2006, 05:23 PM
actually most of us know who is affiliated in the industry, this needs to be for people who are just riders.
Boris
11-14-2006, 05:26 PM
I look at this raffle as selfishly(is that even a word ?) as everyone else who is planing on buying tickets.
However there's another angle to it.
If you don't win is doesn't mean you are out of drinking money. The charity receiving the funds will see us PWC riding people not as a nuisance and a menace but a socially conscientious group.
Might come in handy to have these people on our side next time some local 2 bit politician tries to make baning jetskis his personal crusade.
Win, win ? :dunno:
P.S. I plan on buying the Golden Ticket so all the rest of you can just save your money and get drunk.
TEEEE
11-14-2006, 05:28 PM
You better define "affiliated". What if a rider is sponsored by another company? I think what you're getting at is that they should not have a business interest in another PWC company.

This is the first post re-posted... I had a couple errors that Jeff wanted me to correct. It will be a REV-12 Hood... (yes, I should have realized that) and a latch that is specificly designed for the REV-12 hood system.
I also re-defined what I meant by "affiliated" see below...
I spoke to Jeff Curry for about an hour yesterday and he has a promotional idea that will pretty much blow your socks off....

this pretty much states the deal:
*As far as "affiliated" goes... That may have been the wrong word to use.

......and no I won't be allowing myself to enter either.
"relation" might be a better term.
related to, or family, like an owners wife will not be allowed to bid, because it would be a conflict... Or an owners son... If you are friends w/ someone, that means nothing, but if you actively work for a company and are directly related to them we are asking you to not bid... We want this to go to someone who needs it... Obviously I don't need it and you don't need it, since we have nice skis, but that's not the reason I am not entering it...
Don't you think people would be upsett if I walked away w/ that hull?????
Or at least a little skeptical??? I want people to feel good about how everything transpires..
OMG... I could see it now... I just personally think it would be a conflict of interest to be the director of an event and win the big prize... I will be drawing tickets and keeping the raffle secure and that will pretty much eliminate me from being able to be involved anyway..

It's a good thing you have to be there to claim the prize, otherwise I'd buy a ticket or 2 myself!
This is a good thing, and I'm glad the aftermarket companies (Jeff in this case) are getting on board with this. I just hope everyone is happy for the winner. I'd hate to see it get all political when the stakes are so high (coz lets face it, the prize is a dream come true!) and end up with people being pissed!
All in all, great work so far to Slutty and the rest of the crew for getting this all together, I think we can all learn a lot from these guys.

Nick, so i can have someone buy me 3 tickets enen though im not there? or do i need to be there.
Nick, is there a way for the X to "skim" a little $$ off the top of the raffle money for hosting fees?
i just got off the other thread where everyone is discussing hosting fees etc of the X...
Well, the charity should get 100%......HOWEVER, there would be no charity donation without the X....
I think it would be MORE THAN FAIR if a little of the money was taken to keep the site up and running........Even if only a couple of hundred bucks
I see no harm in that

I completely disagree. 100% should go to charity. X can do other types of fund raisers to pay for hosting. The more people they get on the site the more attractive they are to sponsors. They can sell shirts, hats and stickers. I just don't like the asking for donations stuff.
Just my opinion. Flame on!

i DO see your point.......however, this ride woudl not exist without the X.......The X was "born" at the last daytona ride........
I look at it as maintenance cost.............NOONE profits from it
but it can be looked at from 2 sides.....

Nick, so i can have someone buy me 3 tickets enen though im not there? or do i need to be there.
OK.... there will be only one way to do this... The person who buys in person the ticket will be the winner of the hull. If they choose to give it to you as per a proir agreement, I don't care. In my eyes, the person who paid and drew the winning ticket will be awarded the hull. I really don't have any issues w/ joe blow buying you a ticket, but how are you to be sure you're not just throwin your money away.. I mean you're not there to claim it, whos to say someone didn't cheat you???
I don't recomend it, but if you think you can trust your buddy, go ahead, but I warn you... If I hear of this hull ending up at a competitors shop I will come get it myself... There will be no scams, or trickery. Also, if your buddy :-):-):-):-):-)s you, its on you, brecause like I said.
IN MY EYES THE HULL BELONGS THE THE PERSON POSESSING THE WINNING TICKET UPON CALLING OF THE TICKET. END OF STORY!!!! What transpires after that is up to you.

I agree. Do what yall want but at some point attending a raffle-by-proxy generates the air of meeting up with my buddies 800 miles from home to check lottery numbers.

If someone wants to take additional donations and send the money to the X, that their choice, I, nor Darin or Paul would never ask that.

Right now I'm doing it for these reasons:
build the disciplines of freeride and freestyle
promote x-h2o.com
promote my sponsors
give aftermarket company's an opportunity to get some exposure
give back to the beach community
put jet skiers in a more positive light
test my abilities to organize and direct an event
the fun of it, I like the attention.

From what I hear it was a young-ish dude form the clearwater/St. Pete area.
Works for Pat Bogart (not confirmed- just what I heard).
Was a kawi rider. He is selling his gear to build up the ski.
I think it was a good outcome to the auction.
Congrats - whatever your name is.

Well, yes and no. Yes on the youngish part 21 but working for pat no. It was me and I'm in the coast guard and with what money I had I was building up a ski for surf but after I found out it was too late I didnt realize how hard it was to ride an sxr in the surf and was going to sell my ski and build a superjet but I won the lottery of a life time. I will be building this ski not selling it and riding it like it should be. it will take a long time to build the ski due to no money but I will take pics of every step.
