What height difference? Those are the stock FX-1 mounts, we just took them loose, cut them in half, lined everything back up and re-glued everything. Not a problem. Here's a pic of the epoxy we used:sneaky:

You would be amazed on how useful a heat gun is:arms: Get the mounts hot, not hot enough to melt them but damn near.............then start prying..........once they break loose you just walk it down with heat and pry bar. Pretty easy actually:Banane09: The glue is available at any automotive paint and body store. It takes a special gun to apply but you should be able to use the one they have for a deposit. We use the stuff so much that FX-6.9 Boy just bought the gun ($70)

Why didn't the back mounts line up just fine? They line up on the X-Jet. I'd be a little cautious if those are old mounts... you're doubling the stock horsepower, the mounts might not last long. The GP's come with stiffer mounts.

the GP mounts are not like the fx-1 mounts. the pedestal on a fx-1 are flat like a blaster. the superjet and gp's mounts are the same shape with the same angle pedestal.

Doesn't the X-Jet have three mounting places per side? I guess we are just too stupid to do this build.............honestly, every time we work on it the only people I see in my shop are FX-6.9 Boy, Yamahammer, and me. I guess there's a hater cam somewhere in the shop  When I find it I'm gonna spray paint that mofo

You can't put the GP mounts in the FX-1, because you're right the bosses on the hull are angled on the FX-1. But you should be able to mount the GP engine to the FX-1 rear mounts. The FX-1 uses the same bedplates as the Superjet, remember.

On the X-Jet, the back mounts line up and the front ones are moved a few inches foreward to allow use of the 800. So as long as you used the FX-1 shortshaft, you should have been able to use the OEM rear mount location IMO.

I like what I see here.:Banane01: I recently read a post about the decline of new PWC being sold in the US. Now I know why they aren’t selling new ones. It guys like you with your ingenuity and determination that make this country great. I put that motor (66E) in my X-jet and it diffidently woke the ski up. It was like putting on after burners. The only problem with it is I am running side exhaust and it sounds like Forces funny car at the track. It will be a winter project to move the exhaust to the rear.

Look forward to seeing more pictures. :cheer: :arms:

Mostly I was thinking the FX-1 doesn't need that much power (c'mon, it's an FX-1!)

But yeah, I do think 90mm is pushing the limits of the stock cylinder. More risk than it's worth IMHO.

Bonzia Bob
12-29-2006, 04:26 PM
Yep, too much risk.......................thats why Wiseco make the pistons and US Chrome does the boring and plating for this application, I guess they are just not very reputable companies. I feel you can never get enough horsepower in any boat IMHO:biggrin:

That's the way the Octane hood is and they seem to do fine. I've done pretty much the same thing on my squarenose project. I think the key is to make it pretty thick. The octane is probably about 3/16" thick in that area.

By the way, that ski is looking awesome. It keeps me motivated to work on mine.

It is very interesting to me, I do not have opportunity to order at curry, I am far. I shall build too from a zero. And how at you business with inlet collectors is?

Bonzia Bob
02-14-2007, 02:31 PM
Not quite sure I fully understand the question but I think you are referring to the size of the collector on the exhaust manifold. We will be running dual exhaust so it will have two collectors off the manifold at about 2.5 inches each. Just keep and eye on this thread and we will post pics as we build it.

Just made the final Riva and Blowsion orders today. The paint is in, waiting on exhaust before beefing up the inside......................sure wish we had a pipe. The whole project is waiting on a pipe........................pipe would sure be nice. Oh, I got sidetracked, the cylinders should ship out of US Chrome on the 30th:woot: :woot: Then we need a head..................(see above waiting wishing etc. etc.) and we will have this somebiatch going. Now I don't want to turn this into a Waterdawg trash thread. I know that one off custom parts take time to produce. Its not like he had an FX-1 66e pipe collecting dust on a shelf. But being a business owner myself and having once owned my own custom fab shop you have to understand when you hang your sign out, and go into business you need to be prepared to produce. We have been told several times that the pipe is shipped and should be here by now but we can't get a tracking number :bs2: I am just saying, when you put damn near a $900 hickey on someones amex card, you should ship the item, thats all.

Now that we got the :woot: out of the way  The pipe and heads came in from Waterdawg yesterday :arms: Awesome stuff Jeff (and well worth the wait) He sent us the pipe just tacked together so we could mock it up in the hull the way we wanted. It only took one minor mod and it fit like a champ. The big bore heads are a work of art (and thats all I got to say about that) We are going to have to clearance the exhaust manifold just a little for then turf it to keep from rubbing the hull. We built our own mounts for the pipe to keep it in place and added a couple other items that we wanted. I almost forgot, US Chrome is da bomb!!!!!

FX-6.9 is rebuilding the pump (new bearings and seals) and putting it in right now. Tonight we build the motor :Banane01: :Banane01: The only thing we are missing are the V-Force 3 reeds and cut domes. Anyone want to cut some Waterdawg domes for a 90mm bore? ADA, Riva, and Pro-Tec said no. Jeff was supposed to overnight a set to us on Monday but..............................lets not go there. I'll post some motor pics in the morning. With the kind of low end torque and horsepower we are going to get out of this thing, we kinda need some weight in the boat. The hand pole is all aluminum and probably weighs about 8lbs.

Since Jeff no longer returns calls we had to cut our own domes. So I called up a buddy of mine from high school who owns an off road shop (www.westtexasoffroad.com ) and he was more than happy to take on the task. Who else would you get to cut a set of one off custom domes for a 992cc two stroke than someone that knows nothing about them, well he did once own a JS 550. OK.........went for a lake test tonight............no go.........if this guy named Jeff at Waterdawg was even remotely close to becoming some sort of decent businessman, we would already have the parts that we paid for.....for example,,bolts, o-rings, domes that are "CUT", customer service, or just f***ing common courtesy towards people,, we could have got this thing going.....instead, we paid him for parts that are not finished and have zero customer support with them....I know, everyone has their own gripe threads, but this guy truly sucks............so, if your listening Jeff, you better hang on to your A$$, because on May the 17th, you will be receiving a phone call from me to inform you that I have already talked to the attorney general of Oregon and I am beginning the complaints on you....shortly there after will be the scheduling with a judge to resolve these issues, since what you have done is felony credit card theft......I highly suggest that you answer your phone on 5/17/07 to try and resolve some of these issues.........and by the way, you know what issues I am talking about,,,,,,and by the way, if you say I am full of BS and you think you are above the law, then you have a long, expensive, rough road ahead of you...
and Jeff, if you are puzzled about this rampage, don't be,,,we have heard every lie in the book from you as to why our parts aren't here and we are tired of it......in closure, fix the f***ing problem or face me in court you piece of sh*t..................so, by the way, my boat won't be going to the TX coast this weekend, everything is done to it except domes, o-rings, and bolts for the head.........thanks alot Jeff, we've only been trying to get these parts for 3 months.............

Hmm. FX I can totally sympathize with your frustration. What exactly happened at the water test? It 'seemed' as though it was running in the quick little movie clip I saw? Did something go wrong after that?

I think what it the most frustrating part are the lies and deceit that Jeff exhibits. If he just spent 30 minutes at the end everyday to return calls or emails and said 'look guys, I have X amount of orders today and I honestly haven't had a chance to work on your stuff' then you could go to bed that night with ease. Instead the theme is to not answer the phone, answer your requests through other customers, or just flat out lie. In the end you have hard working folks who are out money and have nothing to show for it. I especially hate the fact that younger folks who order from WD, ones that work their a$$ off in school all year, hope to have an enjoyable summer riding their ski with WD parts, have their summer ruined because WD can't hold to their word. This really upsets me hearing about your misfortune, along with the other fellow X-h2o members. I myself am as upset as you are because I have been following this thread from day one and now I must wait another day for progress. I back you guys 100% and hope this BS comes quickly to an end. The good news is that we also have a set of stock cylinders for this boat. I am currently working on getting some pistons and a head overnighted. We will see how this works out. As far as Jeff goes.................................I have left him more than 20 voice mails, three or four e-mails and a couple of PM's...................................I guess we are not important enough for a return call. I know several other people either have or are experiencing this problem with him, he needs to fix it or close shop. F@cking people around is not cool. Maybe we'll just take some time off and drive to Oregon, people find it harder to lie standing face to face with someone. As far as the problems with the heads goes, cutting the domes was not that bad, its the fact that he failed to mention that they also were not surface matched with the head. So, being that we did not know this we just cut the domes and the o-ring groove. After blowing o-rings and having sever water leaks on the heads we finally walked away and started getting our other boats in the trailer. We'll see if Riva has a head for us and we will run stock pistons for now.

Yeah I am going through the same problem with a Jet Ski parts supplier myself. I mean it has been two months and it is an excuse of next week every time I email or call. But the guy was atleast emailing me back until last week. Thanks for reminding me, he is getting a call today!
