Well I started on it 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I am going to ry to make it perfect once again. I have sanded all the old paint off and am going to glass over the front exhaust hole today. Its a lot of work, but at least I got something to work on, yess...

Is this what you determined caused the sinking?? Same as what happened to me in Texas. Front exhaust hose came off & the sunk in less than a minute. That & the use of less foam in the back because of bindings, hull drains etc = no boyancy
Glad you recoverd it.......... Time to get it ready for Daytona!!!!

They were towing it in with a boat when it sank (something about the hood was off and the line broke). I forget exactly, but the bottom line is he removed some tray foam to install a rear exhaust. With that foam in there it might have floated

The rear exhausthose won't let water into the hull.
The cooling line hoses could fall off, better get rid of those too :cool2:
Nice work luke !
paint her pink and put her back in the water!

Are you fixing it up to sell it or are you keeping it?

Front exhaust hose came off & the sunk in less than a minute. Had a friend pop off his front exhaust hose and it went under in less than a minute out in the surf. About 1" of the rear was above water....took me about 20 minutes to get it running again (or enough to discover the cracked reeds were not letting build rpm).
Owner of ski finally sealed up the (totally useless) front exhaust :Banane09:

Did the hull have stress cracks in it?

Can't wait to see it running again. What color of paint are you going with this time? What about the motor, any issues with it after being under for so long? What about the starter motor and the electrical box and components, are they OK?
I received my new exhaust manifold back yesterday and we are putting the X-jet back together. Might be out this weekend to ride. Do you want to ride it?

Hello again, I have been to busy to even post anything, sorry. This jet ski rebuild is some tuff stuff. I have new pictures of the refoaming job attached. I want to thank THE CHAD for all the help he has been I doing this rebuild. I think I am going with a paint combo of black and red. About the stress cracks, there was actually very few, there was breakage around the hoodseal area where I have bashed it doing 3/4 rolls. Other than that, I don't see any. Well, here are some pics of whats been going on. I am hopeing to get paint on it this weekend,if not soon.

Here are some finshed pics of the paint job, the pole is black in case you were wondering, its just not shown. There is metal flake "small flake" in the clear. The design kinda changed, Chad kinda made the design up and I was the lucky one who taped it off. Not to bad for not being to artistic, ha ha. Seems only right that my Waterdawg X-Jet be Waterdawg red & black. I am going to run black hydro turf on it, the fittings are going to be opposite, black on red, red on black. Its not my usual style, really bright, but I like the way it turned out. I am going to do some shopping tonight online for some parts I need.
Thank god the sanding is over, yesssssssssssssssss!!!!!

Still hasn't really sank in that I found it yet. Like I tell everyone, it won't sit in until I ride it again. There is still much more work to get done, but should go faster and easier now. I'm anxious to see what it will be like with a sealed manifold, unplugged carb main jet, and a newest designed chamber. My funds are kinda low right now, I have to sell 2 jetski's, help remove that drag boat from the lake for some dough, and then sell the finder. I have decided to sell that finder due to the fact that in my free time I just wana ride my ski. I will buy turf and stuff with the next pay check, black diamond cut.
I'm glad everyone likes the paint,
Luke

You should forward the story to Hydroturf and see if you can get a reduced rate (or two free rolls :sneaky: ) for the turf. I'm sure you wouldn't mind endorsing their product on your ski.

There is a rust inhibitor spray you can buy that I used along with 2-cycle oil. Seems to work great.

Luke, nice paint job. I noticed your water pissers up front on your ski. I had to move mine because the pipe that Jeff builds now will be in the way. I think you said you were getting a new pipe and if so your current location will be a problem.

I think the latest and greatest. I was using the old pipe, which worked good I thought, but, Jeff is replacing it with the new one. It will be like the one superramjet has.
