View Full Version : Watercraft Factory and Lehr Performane Watercraft Build
PAIR-A-DICE

I don't really have alot to show at the moment, but I just received some pictures from Steve's shop today of my hull that he's gotten started on.
The basics of this build are as follows:
Watercraft Factory hull, hood, and nosepiece, built by Steve Parenteau (Waterfreak).
Lehr Performance Watercraft 6mm Lamey stroker, built by Paul Lehr (Jr.).
X-Metal pole, steering, waterbox, exhaust outlet, and scuppers, manufactured by Pat Bogart (ikstej).
A combination of Hydroturf and Gator Grip will be used on this build, installed by Charlie (sflsurfrider).
Graphics will be completed by Exotic Signs (Paul).
Here's the only two shots I have of my hull that is under construction...

And the build-off will be a possibility. How can I go wrong with both the 2005 and 2006 winners contributing to this build.

chick, after i saw the hull in the shop, it looks much shinier than i thought it was going to. the clear in the black gelcoat really does help.
on a sadder note, you should have your boat by valentine's day..... steve is busy making 2 texilium handcups for sakit2me's hood and im making sure that every strand is in place.:Banane09:
Yeah---it does look pretty damn shiny---is that your van in the background?!? :sneaky:

Sorry about the hijack but Gator grip??? where can you get gatorgrip. I have heard that it is better than Hydroturf as far as the actual traction goes. I have the grey "B" sheets on my ski and I don't like it. My old straight lined stuff from 5 years ago had a tackier feel to it. My feet would never slide on the old stuff but this feels like a harder compound so it is slicker.

Keep in mind that you can get cut or molded Hydroturf, the cut is less slippery but wears out quicker and imo doesnt look as good as molded. Oh and imo Gator grip sucks for durabilty and is ugly too IMO.

if you put the diamonds front to back, instead of left to right, its very slippery.
Mine run sideways but it feels more plastic than the older lined stuff. I am leaving it out in the sun a much as possible to see if that helps soften it.

Sorry about the hijack but Gator grip??? where can you get gatorgrip.
I will be ordering the Gator Grip from Hot Products ( www.hotproductsusa.com ).
The reason I am using Gator Grip is to give it a little different look. The chinpad and rails will be done with it, but the tray area and footholds will be Hydroturf.
Chick, I am eager to see this ride bro, gonna be awesome, do you have the motor at the house?

My twisted dream is to catch the right day with the right mental state and disqualify myself before Daytona. Yesterday was not that day. I've seen bigger waves in a kiddie pool. I'm going to try rolling soon and I'm hoping that I can use that momentum to go straight on to BF's. It's hard to do anything inverted when you fall off right where the waves are breaking and the water isn't even up to your waist. Unless you're Nick and know that you won't be landing upside down.
Hey Chick, have you become PM illiterate? I've sent you two and gotten no response. :twak:

Awesome, I am Honored, But really, It is the truth, I have never been happier with a product. I was looking over my whole hull before I winterized her (until Daytona) and there is not a crack, chip, stress crack, nothing in that hull. After this season and the beatings.... I am amazed, I seriously would not trade the hull for anything ! My square hull (reinforced) w/o foam weighed in at 100lbs. 2lb foam adds about 8lbs, glass, footholds and scuppers should bring the hull to about 115lbs. The hood weighed in at 13lbs. I estimate the hull and hood is about 130-135lbs

I'd have to double check my bank records to give you an EXACT date, but it's just under the three month mark at my best guesstimate. I had a couple of orders ahead of me and wasn't in any hurry at all, though.

Sorry, Fellas.
The Good: Ski handled VERY SMOOTH. I absolutely LOVE the handling of the hull. Engine has a very SMOOTH powerband and runs strong, although it still needs some slight tweaking IMO. The turf job is insanely nice and feels like landing on clouds with the 25mm padding. The WCF footholds are VERY comfy and roomy and when I kick my feet in the holds to get a tight fit it puts me a little farther forward than my other ski which feels better. Now if I can get to work on my rolls again.
The Not So Good: I blew out one of the scupper rubbers within thirty minutes of riding it, but the bilges did great keeping up with it the one time I stopped and realized what had happened.
I have a very minimal exhaust leak that I need to track down that affected the engine's performance.
