The tubes are larger and better fit the contours of most skis, as well as offering a much sturdier platform in loose sand. They are taller and beefier than AC Stands and don't have the straps that will eventually fade, dry or rot and break.

Packaged up they weigh in at 20lbs and the dimensions are 41"x24"x6"

EDIT: I have been able to get shipping down to around $20 for most states using UPS ground.

There is talk of attending Wavedaze but nothing final yet.

Width could be adjusted by adding a jacking bolt or shim to the brace to narrow it up or dremel a bit out to make it wider. Another option would be to specify your width and have the builder make you a custom one.

Quick suggestion...

How about adding a kit for wheels, you could have a plate with castors on it that slide into the bottom rails and are easily removed with a pin.

Ski stands are nice, but even better when they can be moved easily in the garage.

Thank you for your suggestions and while I agree that Ski stands are nice for the shop, I do not agree that Scissor stands are large enough or stable enough to use as work platforms and adding wheels will only make it more unsafe.

If you need a good work stand I highly reccomend buying or building something specific to the task. It should be a few inches taller and almost a foot longer to better cradle a hull, especially when removing an engine and changing the balance of the hull.

How much interest is there in the orange covering I was offering in limited quantity? What is it worth to you guys so I have an idea how feasible it is to invest in a quantity of the tubing? How important is color choice?

The real question is, what is it worth to you? To get the same material as the orange but in different colors will cost between $5 and $8 a foot depending on how much I order.

Color choices include grey, blue, dark red, yellow, orange and white. I would be inclined to pick one neutral color like grey or white myself because this product is not readily available in small quantities and offering multiple colors would be cost prohibitive.

Some of you will notice that the price is back up to $140 plus shipping. We had lowered it down for a bulk buy arranged by Dragginblazer so if you want the lower price of $130 each, you have to get together and buy at least 6.
*Note: buying in bulk does not lower the shipping costs. Shipping is cheapest when each is shipped seperately.

Not sure on the next batch. I will be at Steve's shop on wednesday and can discuss custom widths with him. Depending on how wide you are looking for, it's likely achievable by simple drilling a second set of holes.
