ok i started doing my footholds, now on the right side it seems the foothold is hititing the exhaust pipe... is that because I put them too far forward? or do i have to do somethin about the pipe?
i wasnt sure about placement so I put the holds so they start at the flat part of the tray.. about 6-7" from the back of the tray
Hogggman
02-25-2006, 11:38 AM
You should be able to slide it back enough to just clear the exhaust. If not cut the hole slightly larger in the back to do it. If you look at your footholds the exhaust side should have a slight angle in the front to clear.
looks like you put them to far forward...I think mine are only like 4-5 inches from the back of the tray if that, mind you mine is a roundnose. Just keep cutting them back until they fit. Thats the good thing about glass you can always fix what you need to. Heres a pic to show you where mine sit.

02-25-2006, 07:01 PM
yeah i fixed them, just cut some more material out.. and good lord is my tray ever wavey haha..
i checked my foam and its all dry .... woot... just gotta cut other hole and install and foam behind em... and im tempted to do the home depot scupper
glad to hear you fixed your problem...may aswell do the scupper now while you have it all ripped apart and not have to worry about it later.

ok i started my hood mod, typical mod for SN... just gotta lay new liner now... not sure how to do it, does it lay on top of the channel for the pole or does it sit above it and sorta 'float' ?? i reglassed my tray with epoxy resin as i found out polyester peals off like nothing... but its too damn cold to sand it (-5 atm) and lay turf... paint is next... im debating between rattle can camo job or a simple 1 color done by maaco

02-02-2007, 06:18 PM
my hood liner kinda floated except that one spot almost centre of hood, there i made mine contact it to help sturdy things up. its held up to alot of slams from roll attempts gone bad so far. just forsee where your hood hooks bolt on and lay up the liner to allow you to get the hardware fastenable.

hey bud...I would probably just go with a cheap rattle can job since you will probably be beating on it. I have used both the black and white appliance epoxy paints and have been quite impressed with them. They harden right up and don't scratch real easy. No they don't come in a variety of colors but you could always go all black or white and than go with a graphic kit. Just my 2 cents!

Do it, Steve rattled his ski with the DIYS redneck's camo paint kit from Canadian tire. i am not sure how they get three colors in one can but it was right beside the plaid and stripped paint cans

I never really figured out the red interior. Personally I think it looks like ass. Grey interior is the way to go. If I ever got out of this jet ski thing I'm into I plan on buying another 5.0. Come to think of it I could probably save money if I did.
Anyway, your square looks like it is comming right along. Keep the pictures comming.

What do you guys mean by rattling can it?? like spray painting?(this may be a dumb question)
meatball
02-04-2007, 04:33 PM
Spray paint, it rattles when you shake it
Some peoples paint jobs look really sweet too. I think I'm going to nab one guys color scheme from his roundnose done in rattle-can epoxy appliance paint. It was white with a black inverted oval thing across the front. I forget his name, if he'll post up I've been meaning to ask him. His ski looked sick. I wanted to do something similiar to my sqaure, however a black bottom, silver topdeck, and flat blue inverted oval across the front. I have plenty of time to play with options though, so we'll see.
I'm finishing up my slut mod sometime very soon. I made a template for the handhold cutouts, if you want it lemme know.

it looks good but is that head on backwards? my ada has the water outlets on the carb side so the water flows across the engine. not sure if you can turn that around and bolt it back on.
meatball
03-16-2007, 09:37 PM
its on right, thats the way the stock head is and Westcoast. Look at where the exhaust pipe bracket holes are located. Even if it was on backwards, I dont think it would make a different.

thats cool, i know i had my ada head setup like that then looking at pictures of other motors noticed that the cooling outlets where supposed to be on the opposite side as the water inlets. Ada instructions tell you to install that way but i guess i missed that part the first time around. What size carb are you going to run on that ported bad boy.
