so it turns out that riding a ski with new footholds and very little turf hurts like he!!. I ended up landing a big air on my shins because my feet slipped out of the holds. thought for sure my legs were broken but it turns out that you don’t need x-rays if you can see a 4 by 2 inch section of it. see attached.
thanks to island750 for taking me to the e.r. where we told the nurses that we were filming jackass 3. ha ha.

my friend has a smaller version of that split on his chin from riding my ski. hes an idiot. he screwed all my other friends out of a chance to ride it too. (the ones who have never skied before)

I did the same thing on my shin about 15 years ago on my old 550. 18 stitches if I remember right. I went huge off of a boat wake and I landed on my shins on the back of the tray. Same thing... I thought for sure I broke my leg. The doctor who stiched it up said my wetsuit probably absorbed enough of the impact so it didn't break it.

You ride the Detroit River??

Yep riding in the river. The best part was I was by my car and I hear something to the effect" Oh ********, come here quick!" I peeled the wetsuit off and that's what I saw. Thankfully he was wearing the wetsuit, I think the pressure helped control the bleeding. It hardly bled at all. The wetsuit definately kept it from being way worse.

Nothing like spending the afternoon in the ER and explaining the injury to the staff. Something like .....dare, 4" lead pipe, didn't flinch, here we are. They were NOT amused.:Banane01:

Same here... I'm surprised I haven't seen you. I don't get to ride as much as I want but when I do we launch at Lake Erie MetroPark. I ride with Ken (nemoskii) and that crew.

Haha, this must be a common one. I did exactly the same thing years ago. 16 stiches outside, and another 10 inside. It's wierd being able to feel your bone with your finger! It's strange, you expect your bone to have some feeling when you touch it, but it don't!

I had an identical one also on the left shin, but decided not to get stiches. Just kept it pulled shut and kept it clean. We had a 2.5 hr ride back to GA also. :banghead: I even had a wetsuit on at the time. I have pics, but looks just like yours.

got the new ski and it freakin rocks. needs a new prop though. here is the hillbilly version of waterproof bandages. you may find yourself asking if those patches were cut from a bag of toilet paper and the answer is yes. cha cha charmin baby! and that IS electrical tape.
