http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile#move

1. Shut down Firefox completely (File > Exit).
2. Move the profile folder to the desired location. For example, on Windows, move the profile from C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default to D:\Stuff\MyProfile. If you are reading these instructions because you want to restore a previously backed up profile, this step isn't necessary. Just note the current location of the profile you want to restore.
3. Open up profiles.ini in a text editor. The file is located in the application data folder for Firefox:
* On Windows XP/2000, the path is %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
* On Windows 95/98/Me, the path is usually C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\
* On Linux, the path is ~/.mozilla/firefox/
* On Mac OS X, the path is ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
4. In profiles.ini, locate the entry for the profile you've just moved. Change the Path= line to the new location.
5. Change IsRelative=1 to IsRelative=0.
6. Save profiles.ini and restart Firefox.

That sounds a bit complicated for just switching profiles. I know that with firefox you can have up to 12 different profiles so different users can use their own personal settings on the same computer.

All I did was create a new profile called new default and I want to switch back to default. There was a box that popped up when I opened firefox that gave me the option. There has to be a way to bring that box back up to switch back.

If you want to see the profile manager... close firefox..
go to start > run > type "firefox.exe -profilemanager" (without quotes)

The firefox web browser has the capabilities of setting up different profiles for different users to use. It will have your preferences, settings, bookmarks and everything else set to your likings. You can switch between profiles so that firefox will be setup differently for different users. I just need to know how to access that option in firefox.

For example:

We could have one profile set up called: Christian

That profile will be setup with restrictions and other different settings since he is our son and his access requires filtering.

Then we would have another profile called: Parents

That profile would be setup without restrictions and other different settings.

Just need to know how to switch back and forth between them. There must be an easier way to do it other than going into windows explorer and changing files and resaving them. I opened firefox the other day, and a box appeared asking me what profile I wanted to log on under or if I wanted to create a new profile. How do I access that box?

actually I went to start > run > then typed "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" and it brought me to the profiles. But there still needs to be an easier way. Thanks for the help!!

Ok I figured it out.

I went to start > run > %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

Then it brought up a window with the different proflie folders in it. I deleted the one it was currently using.

Then when I restarted firefox, the window appeared asking about the user profiles. The profiles are all there, and you can choose between them. There is a box that somehow got unchecked where it asks if you want that window to appear every time you start firefox.
