This is a hull i just picked up
its been reinforced in the hull as well as other things
I have an 8mm lamey stroker to go in it
48 novis and b-pipe etc etc

first i will refoam it and clean it up and paint it white
My wife is a graphic designer so she will design the graphics for it and well let see where it goes from there

Since my wife is japanese i am thinking about putting this sort of a picture on it
The two things i love the most
She can draw these pics like this very well so we will see
it should be something like this as she is great on the airbrush

Is a 8mm stroker a bit much for the surf? Sounds more like a good flatwater platform.

waxhead
09-14-2006, 12:21 AM
Yup 8mm is way to much for the surf
i want overkill on top of over kill

I would like to learn how to flat water roll as well

Do you think it will have the grunt or should i go for a more radical setup

Silly Wax.......8mm's are for kids! :haha: For the surf I would do a single carb ported motor, 701 or 760. Stock electronic w/ inferno system :cheer: Have the bare minimum to make it run and reinforce throughout especially under the handle pole mount. D-cut plate cut almost flush with the hull, you don't want the ski to take a nose dive down a wave......tubbies would be sweet as well to prevent that and give your nose a better foot print. Also on that note I think it would be cool to move the battery recessed in bulkhead so it is more centered........I would try and keep the weight off the nose as much as possible and just keep the ski simple and well balanced.

Flatwater boat go nuts..........lower the center of gravity as much as your back can take and produce stupid power. Flatwater backflips :woot:

I love insane power in the surf but
I used to have an 8mm in the surf it was great
this will just be better
and yeah flat water is something i want to look into as well

waxhead
09-14-2006, 03:41 AM
we have a thing called the broad water where boats( huge boats) come buy
and we jump of there wash
i want to be able to play on that

Also i want to scare myself

Freestyleriverrat
09-14-2006, 03:53 AM
That boat sounds like it is going to be nuts!! The higher you go the more prone you will be to breaking stuff...........that includes body parts :haha: I am leaning towards predictablity and smooth power on surf and flatwater boats. The more predictable the power and the more precise the steering and trim the more enjoyable the boat is to ride......IMO. Project sounds like a beast. Do you have a time line for the build?

waxhead
09-14-2006, 03:55 AM
I am hoping for nuts that will be almost enough
I guess i really like just having mega grunt even if i am not that good at freeride
well i can 180 and i have done about 4 rolls in my life
But the has been reinforced and i didnt want to damage my black one
I am going to be looking for a free ride hood and nose piece soon as well

waxhead
09-14-2006, 10:16 AM
here is my scupper valve i will use
Of course it has no flap but it will when i have finished
The one in my black ski i anodized black
i will do this one the same colour as the ski
Its just a nice finish

With your vast tech knowledge, I'm sure this will be an arm stretching beast.

Also i want to scare myself

So are you getting the CNC machine? You aren't allowed to finish this until you have some cylinders and cranks out there. Better get busy.

waxhead
09-14-2006, 05:19 PM
the cnc will happen
i am just in the middle of buying a house
and thats causing a lack of funds
once i have that sorted it cnc machine time

Well i started to defoam my ski
the lifters had been screwed in place and i didnt like the idea of that
so i cut the floor out and took the foam out
while i am there i can fit the scupper correctly and seal all the leaks and reinforce the whole thng at the same time

I have some pics but i cant upload them at the moment for some reason

those graphics look awesome, wish my old lady had talent like that,oh well she is talented in other areas lol

waxhead
09-19-2006, 09:08 AM
well its totally defoamed now

the foam was no much for the die grinder iwth a sanding tip in it

tell me where you guys reinforce on the hull on the back half before you refoam it

I wish i could put pics up but it still not working

waterfreak
09-19-2006, 01:41 PM
Put the ski on it's side and then mix some 2 part epoxy with some milled fibers (to thicken it up to a semi paste) and then pour it in the bond line all the way from the rear end ,to the firewall. then add some bi-axial from top to the bottom of the hull. If you gona ride this thing in the surf, make sure you re-foam with some 4 lbs closed cell foam:biggthumpup: Then this hull will be bullet proof and ready for some crazy surf

Keep us posted on the progress, good luck:Banane01:

Thats the info from the guy that would know
thanks alot Steve
I have been taking heaps of pics
when i can post them then i will get them up on here

Defoaming wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be

what do you use to fix the yammie hull
epoxy
or polyester

WaveDemon
09-19-2006, 05:01 PM
epoxy because of the SMC bottom half.

waxhead
09-25-2006, 05:04 AM
Well its all defoamed
my engine turned up today and that will be being built some time soon

i need a head pipe ( i just sold one) for the b-pipe
it will be running 48 novis

i am adjusting one of my ignitions to work with the msd flywheel and pickup
Experimental at the moment

Its only going to be a 81.75mm bore engine at the moment with an 8mm stroke that will give me just under 800 (797) cc

i want heaps of overbores avaliable for this engine

i am not happy with the colour inside so ill be taking that back to white

waxhead

started to gind out all the old reniforcing it wanst done correctly so i wanted to do it right
seems this hull has had a hard life
the pump duct was almost falling out
oh well i guess thats why they make fiberglass so we can fix these things

Freestyleriverrat
10-07-2006, 02:56 AM
Nice start, can't wait to see it all mocked up and ready for paint. That is my favorite part...........seeing a freshly built ski back from paint is such a feeling of accomplishment.

waxhead
10-07-2006, 03:34 AM
Yeah thanks
i am looking forward to when i have the hull zipped back up as well

always looks good when they are new

Im still going around paintschemes in my head
I am trying to stop myself from starting the engine until i get the hull finished

IceRocket1286

I have been very busy lately buying and selling skis as well as my normal job
its kept me from doing my hull
but its now off to the sand blaster to get it ready for glassing on the inside
there is alot to be glassed on this ski but it will be no issue
got the 5 week holidays coming up to do it in

waxhead
11-19-2006, 07:03 AM
