do people still drop a foot off the side to help carve a turn. Because i do on my left side but all the pics i see show both feet in.

It is still useful in certain circumstanses, but in general, the SXR handles well enough without having to do that.

at certain times you can do a leg drag to try and keep a higher speed through a turn..... sometimes it helps............ it also can drain energy if things start to go wrong.............. not many people do them now...........

called a "Legdrag"

Most of the old skoolers will do a leg drag from time to time (I do if its flat). Back in the 550 days you basically had to in order to turn hard and fast. The modern standup doesn't really require it and work best with just a ass-drag (or tuck-n-lean). In my case I will leg drag left but ass-drag right.

The best option is to use the riders wake in front as an inside berm (braappp) - but keep out of the fluffy stuff. Saves the most energy.

BTW: rab2009, what do you ride?

i ride a 550Bingo.

You should look into getting a Yamaha FX1. But if you are serious about racing, I'm affraid the SXR is the best way to go. Keep in mind it is a good race ski but coming from a 550 to an SXR, you will be shocked how stable and how much harder it is to fling around.

. . . and how it will dump you the first three times you turn it because you're not used to the grip.

I would say old school to sxr is like freeweights to nautilus.

If you are looking to race in any way and cannot afford the sxr at least get a square nose superjet you will be able to get a better price and it will be better for racing.

If you have ever riden an FX1 you'll know what I am taking about. They are NOT race skis and they where never intended to be one.

They are pretty good for freestyle though so if that is what you are after great.

Or if you can get your hands on a Round Nose Superjet that would be even better.
