Don't know if Mike Young has posted it to the Surf and Turf Schedule yet, but it is happening, and I'd like to be the first to make the "unofficial" announcement---with Mike's blessing, of course. :biggthumpup:

What: Gamez N Flix 2006 Florida State Championships

Where: Edgewater Beach Resort, Panama City Beach, Florida

When: November 4th and 5th, 2006

The races and the site for the races will also be the backdrop for a movie that is going to be filmed. Mike is really hoping for a great turnout, although the timing may seem a bit off---blame that on the folks that cancelled the race previously scheduled for August. :rolleyes: Really hoping myself that the folks that couldn't make it to World's can try and make it to this race---also crossing my fingers that some that are going to the Finals can make it to this as well---hint, hint, Parr, Bogart, and Ratti. :cool2: Jason Stoyer is expected to show, as well, as he rarely misses one of Mike's events.

Since Ft. Walton's old site at the Radisson is no more, Mike's been trying to get something going in Panama City Beach---if this turn-out is good, Edgewater has agreed to be the host at future events. So, don't put the wetsuits away for the winter until AFTER this event. :arms:

The movie deal fell through, but the races are still on!!!

Met with Mike yesterday and confimed a couple of sponsors and scheduled the racer's party.

Racer's party info is as follows:

Where: Foghorn's Liquors
8011 Thomas Drive
Panama City Beach, Florida

It's about one mile east of LaVela.

There will be live entertainment, finger food (provided by Foghorns), and drink specials for the racers. $1 Domestic Beer and $3 Shots!!! :biggrin:

The owners of the bar are friends (and customers) of mine and are really wanting all of us to have a good time. Normally, when anyone thinks of bars in Panama City LaVela and Spinnaker are the first to come to mind, but this is an off-season race and they will be closed.

Good deal. FWIW, the juniors (and under 21 crowd) will have red wrist bands for the racer's party, and we are planning on putting up some EZ-Ups out in front of Foghorn's. Mike wants the families to have a chance to come out for the party.
