fyi - 12ft "seas" actually mean 6ft "surf"... They take the average wave size at the bouy and double it, because all it takes is two waves hitting each other at sea to make a wave twice the size... When they approach shore they line up in order and also there are no other waves comming from the other direction to double them...

...Just remember that "seas" are waves at sea, now breaking waves on the beach that is "surf"

just a bit of useless info.....

btw - you guys suck... we got nothing from this POS so called storm

I dont know about all that wave judgement and all that.....
But the NOAA link I posted above. I have been cheking for over 10 years.. When that says 3-4 in BL it is usually head high or better. so when they call out like 7-12, them waves are no bull double over head sometimes better. I dont know what they judge by or what not... but what ever they say on that.. its usually a 1-2 higher... when they call 1-2 ft. its usually like wasit to chest.  :cheer: :Banane01:

Oh yeah.... I hear ya... I just was explaining the method they use...

We have inlet breaks that are always bigger, usually twice the size of the beach breaks. This happens from the wave not having to travel over a long slope to break on the shore... The wave loses power as it rubs the bottom of the ocean. On some of the breaks that have shelfs on the outside that cause the break, it ramps up fast and lets the wave release it's energy over a shorter period of time causing a larger wave...

Sorry if it sounds like Im preaching, I just like to talk about the physiscs of a breaking wave and why... there are so many things to learn...

Have fun Petey and be safe!!!!! :clown:

guiness92

It was a sloppy mess. Washing machine consistency. The double attempt was actually in the inlet. The ocean waves were probably around 6' if I had to guess.

gumper
09-03-2006, 09:02 PM
Corsons was consistent 6-10 ft. with occasionally bigger.....really consistent with no chop once you got past the inlet......:Banane01:
