Found in a local rag:


1995 Kawasaki JS550SX. Custom built by Pete Roundy. Super fast ported, polished weisco rings, pistons. Ocean Pro carb. Westcoast head pipe, too much to list. $1850.


The thought of spending damn near $2k on a 550 is mind-boggling. :boggled:

Then I asked myself who the hell Steve Roundy is. Who is this pro-builder I have not heard of?
A google search reveals a local Kawi dealership. :boggled:

Hey Matt I got an inside line on a Kawi 550 that I can get to you for half that price, just say the word and pay cash. lol.

i have a 1989 JS 550 for 1/2 that price and it has new Hydroturf and finger throttle :biggrin:

Wow I want one now! lol

I would take a 550 w/ an 800 engine and pump in for that price. Of course it would have to have everything else Matt already has on his SJ like bars, finger throttle, duals, prop, ride plate... oh $hit I might as well just get an SJ!

probably one of the guys from roundy's kawasaki... which i wouldnt let touch any of my skis running or not... they arent too bright there... typical dealer mechanics

Well guys, hate to burst your bubble, but back in the 80's and early 90's Pete Roundy (owner of Roundys Kawasaki) was building some of the fastest ski's around the Northwest. I agree that the price for that ski is ridiculous BUT he is a very competent engine builder. He used to build for Mike Hobeck who was a PJS Pro rider on X2's. Mike Hobeck was #1 or 2 World Champion on a Roundy built motor. He built my 440 Superstock which in 1990 I was novice 440 SS champion in region 3

cool... still wouldnt let anyone at roundys touch my skis..and my bubble is still full
