Hello everyone,

I'm new to this site and would just like to say hi to everyone. Currently own a 1990 Yamaha superjet and a 2005 Kawasaki SXR800. I live in Holland, MI and typically ride in Macatawa (if it doesn't taste too bad) or Dumont Lake near Allegan.

I'm always looking for people to ride with. It gets kind of boring riding by oneself. I'm also still trying to ride standups so patience would be required! LOL I didn't get an opportunity to ride much last year and I'm going to try my best to make up for it this year. Not to mention my wife is pregnant and it probably won't take to much for me to want to get out of the house for a few hours! LOL

marsh, thong, and alex, the last time you all rode was freestylefest? thats why i love that ride so much! usually the last chance to ride in Michigan. except for us lucky bastards that went to jersey and daytona:woot:

Everyone that rides in Michigan should definatly check out the events section and try to attend as many rides as possible. There are 3 in mi. this year!!! more than any other state so no excusses. You will meet so many people to ride with.

Huh? Anything planned for the summer yet? I was thinking we should have something over by lake St. Clair sometime. Take the ferry out to Harsens Island. (anyone that knows what I am talking about) Go to the different channels, everyone could launch at Browns launch and have fuel and stuff right there.

South Lyon here - I live on Crooked Lake (US-23/Silver Lake Rd exit). Ride an '07 SJ and a couple boring sit-down skis as well :) Always looking for others to ride with, so if anyone in the area wants to come by and launch, holla holla at me. This is my first year riding a standup so I'm certainly not very good at it, but I ride for at least 45 minutes every day and am trying to improve.

On a side note - I'm looking to get footholds and a strap installed, as well as pole mods/etc. Are there any reputable shops here in SE MI to get this done? I could do this myself but I'm a roadracer and between practice, travel, and racing my time is very limited.

I'm in. Although I have to be off the water by 2:30 :banghead:, I have a wedding to go too . Hopefully we can start early enough. What time will guys showing up? Can I suggest 10AM?

For those of you who are not familar with Harsens Island, it is just south of the Middle Channel (Lake St. Clair). There is a boat launch on the Island right next to Brown's Bar, enclosed is driving directions from Clinton Twp (where I live) to Brown's Bar, to give you general driving info and location. To get to this boat lauch you must take the Ferry over to Harsens Island. Although you can get to the ride area (Middle Channel) from other boat launchs that is not on the Island, like I do. You can gas up from stations on the lake, just make sure you bring cash ($3.80 per gal) and of course, a canister of oil. Seems to work out well for me. Anyways, I just wanted to give as much info/options to you all to pull off a good, smooth time. Hope to see a good turn out! :cool2:

Hey guys, I'm new here. I ride on lake michigan, as it is my backyard. I have a house on the lake in long beach, in. That is right next to michigan city, in. I never see any stand up riders on my end of the lake, and the waves are amazing at times. I'd really like to start riding with some more stand ups this coming summer. I have a wet suit, and as soon as I come home from school, I'm ready to go.

I have an 02 sxi pro lets get somethin together..

Hey 02 sxipro,
I was in Michigan City last weekend, I was passing through with my family on our way back from Shedds Aquarium in Chicago. I live just east of Ann Arbor, MI in Belleville.

I had drive to the beach to check it out, the beach there is amazing, the waves were breaking, it looked incredible. I didn't have my ski and the air temp was only in the high 20's or else I would have been in the water. It looks like that is a great place to be when the water / air is warmer. I might have to hit up that spot over the summer.

Keep your eye on the boards, there is the Wave Rave in August. It has been held the past 3 years in Clay Banks, MI; just north of Muskegon. There are also quite a few guys that live on the West side of Michigan that are good to ride with.

DC SUPERJET
01-17-2008, 01:14 PM
it's definatley a spot unknown to many. But man, when the winds are coming out of the NW, holy $hit. Since it's right at the SE corner of the lake the waves get huge. Unfortunatley, there are only a few times during the warmer months when they get that big. Even so, it is still always a great time.

I go on pwctoday and we're going to try and get a ride together this summer somewhere in NW indiana on the lake. Maybe Michigan City? So, the more the better.

-Dave

Yes, she was a wealth of information. I already looked up the Hot Hole and Sterling State Park that she mentioned. Sterling sounds perfect for kids.

We plan on being out on Belleville Lake Friday and/or Saturday baring no serious problems in the city. I might be over at the Rawsonville launch Thursday to practice 1 person launches.

there is a group of 3 ppl with octanes, 2 superjets, a sxi, and some tag alongs with sit downs that ride all the time on the grand river and lake lansing since that is where we all live. we also spend alot of time in ludington and will probably spend some time in charlevoix as well this summer on the weekends. we are looking forward to newaygo, wave rave, put-in-bay and whatever else foolishness involving jet skis and fun we can find.

newaygo is in two weeks (june 20-22) and we should have our skis ready and hopefully my ankle wont still be broke so lets get a bunch of people to go there...

we will most likely be going to ludington the weekend after (june 27-29), i have a cottage on hamlin lake and we also ride at lake michigan (depends on how the waves are). also that weekend is gus macker so there are tons of people and a good time is not hard to find.

the weekend after that is the 4th of july and we will be up at torch lake at the sand bar.

we are always up for more people to ride and party with so message me if anyone wants to meet up or if there is something more fun in a different spot!!

my buddy and i will be up there with our superjets, we could have 5 to six more people to join that live in the ludington area. i am coming up to ludington from nashville, tn and i would love to get a group of people out on lake michigan on saturday if your guys are down. generally we dump at municipal after speeding past the poor soul who has to take the money, that we never pay...

you know, there is nothing like the big water.....

I live by Fort Wayne, IN and I'm looking for the best place to ride on the southern part of lake so I dont have to spend alot of money on gas to get to the location.
Thanks

Well this thread has sorta died down, I'm guessing due to getting near the end of season. Anyway, I'm just south of Chicago and my parents have a place in South Haven, MI, so I'll for sure be down for anywhere near either Chicago or South Haven come EARLY next season...which will be my first time riding a stand up...hoping/assuming I'll have my ski by then. Which I should...

2 questions.

1. When do you guys start riding again? Last year I started riding Lake Michigan about the first week of May, but I think I could start a bit earlier I have a 3/4 full wetsuit.

2. Are there any rides set up yet besides the Torch Lake ride? Is there going to be another Wavedaze? I really want to do some organized rides this summer.

I really want to go out this summer ally more than I have last year, let's set up some rides for like the second weekend in may. It should be warm by then and most people will be back from school just like me.

alot of people head out to either holland or out by the power plant. (I forget the name).

Get with Turbo626, TB, Rahl, Six5hooSX, robbiewithchese, etc. (local GR riders) they will get you pointed in the right direction.

edit: Port Sheldon...thats the name of the place.

Port Sheldon (by the power plant) has the easiest access to Lake Michigan. It is also called Pigeon Lake

LIve in Port Huron, MI. Rode yesterday from my dock on St. Clair river to South end Lake Huron to canal leading to Black River, then Black River to Wadhams Rd overpass. Mostly free ride. Hit the rollers when the North wind blows and generally look for the 50ft sport fishing cruisers.
