right now water temp is around 47ish... during the summer it gets up to about 75-78. During the winter it freezes most years...

We usually wear just shorts during the summer, 3/2mm wetsuits duriong spring and fall until about mid-october, then dry suits as the air temp is usually in the 40's with water temps around the same.

we get everything here from flat water, mild to heavy chop (1-3 foot) to 12-15 foot waves. Although, waves that big here are wind driven only and we are usually battleing 30-45 mph winds to have waves that large.

best time up here for us is when we have 3-5 footers as the wind is usually kept to about 15-20 mph.

Worst thing is, when the waves are under 10 foot they are in pretty tight intervals... making it a little tougher to get a good wave. Also, we get some pretty shifty winds and when that happens we get a lot of washed out wave action. It's a pretty gnarly ride though... you really have to work for your waves.

about 5 or 6 of us ride every weekend, and as much as we can during the week, on Lake Erie... launch at Sturgeon Point Marina or Point Breeze (not as nice). We ride in an area called Angola On The Lake... there are three beach bars there... a town and county beach/park and usually a ton of boats on the weekend... rarely marine police though, and a whole lot of lake to ride on.

Curtis, and his crew of about 5 or 6 ride more on Lake Ontario at Olcott. However, they come down to our spot several times a year.

When we get waves bigger than 3-4' then we have the whole area to ourselves.

Once fall comes we are pretty much the only ones on the water, except the fishermen and a few die hard boaters.

i run 50:1 in both my 2001 and my 1995 superjets.

the waterbox helps to keep the motor quiet, there are restrictive baffles to keep noise levels down and a certain amount of back pressure for the exhaust.

i have two or three 61x 701 cylinders... one needs resleeving, the other two just need a light hone... you can pick up some pro-X pistons and with one of my cylinders have a 701 CC motor. You'll need a new head though. and you might think about getting rid of that pipe and picking up a factory wet pipe.

Hey guys my name is Eric and I just moved back up to Buffalo for the fall semester. Last year I was in a dorm and was unable to bring the ski up here, this year however I'm living in a house that has a detached garage. Hopefully with a little persuasion I'll be able to park the ski in there and not have to worry about it too much. I'm just wondering who is in the area and when you guys go riding? I've talked to Dan Stein about meeting up but I'm not to thrilled about driving 45 minutes just to ride. I'm living in Tonawanda right off of Niagara Falls Blvd. Hopefully the ski will be coming up this weekend but it will definitely be up by next weekend. Classes and homework can only occupy so much of my time, the rest of the time I'd love to be riding with someone.

we launch at Crystal beach waterfront park... we then go to the east and ride by the peir on the nice beach in front of erie road. my cottage is on the not so nice area of the beach in the blurr.

Today sucked... all washed out crap! my 4 lb battery didn't have enough CCAs (50 degrees when we went out) so i had to change back over to my regular dry cell. Peter's battery was dead so we had to jump it.

no trouble at the boarder crossing with a ski and fuel? Also, i accidentally let my passport expire... do I need to have one to cross yet?

you just need your drivers liscence.. They will give you NOOOOO issues about the ski or you as long as you dont have a felony or anything on your record. bring the skis registration just in case but they have never asked for it or even looked at the trailer plates. they just ask if its myn and most of them dont even know its a jetski.

its real easy and fuel is no issue. i go over with 5 gallon tanks x2 and a full ski.

this friday looks good and sounds good so far.

Andy if steve is going then I'll deff be there but I'm not sure what my family is doing. The funeral is on Thursday so I think everything should be wrapped up so i'm free friday but honestly my family comes first, although my superjet is a very close second. we rode yesterday as well, for about two hours in the afternoon. solid chest high waves with occasional overhead sets. Brian nearly landed his first barrel roll. about 80% around. His second attempt he pancaked big time and f'd his ski up pretty good. we pulled it apart last night and went through it...

i have to learn to start my rolls earlier in the trick... i am doing them on my way down while nose stabbing. so it looks like a corkscrew nose stab.

this is an odd direction for us on this end of the lake, but what the hell - maybe Thursday after work might be decent. Last time we had this condition you had to go about a mile off shore and there were killer waves coming from the Buffalo direction.
