No more custom of the month

I was hoping this feature would take off, but it turns out it's a major PITA to get people to submit their pics, or the freestyle companies have no interest in it, or people just don't feel like showing off.

So, no more customs, sorry.

I would love to continue it, but here's the history:
April - probably the best, the thread was done before the 1st of the month, nice writeup with something from out of the US skis/products
May - none, tried several people and Marc Sickerling's was supposed to be it, but he was on the road competing
June - easy, from the Lanier buildoff
July - Junkman, got him at the last minute, final pics were never posted
August - gave up

I figured Blowsion would jump all over this to showcase their stuff, I have asked several times and pretty much been told "well, maybe later...." I've tried Lee Stone, his ski has too many prototype parts that aren't public yet. I've tried some of the Japanese companies but the language barrier is impossible/hard.

I'm all for continuing it, but so far it's been me doing it by myself and not having a lot of luck.

I think if you did more people on the forum instead of lee stone(im curious about theses prototype parts) and people like him you would get better results. Maybe if the winner's ski was posted in a sticky on like the general forum or main page more people would see it.just my 2cents

yamaslut, sfl, daylite, waterfreak, djkorn, cg racing, junkman have all been featured just in the past 7 months.

Also, every month, the custom was a global sticky announcement, in ALL forums.

What more can I do?

Finish de-foaming your ski, install your footholds, turf, etc. etc. Voila'---August custom of the month if you finish within 14 days. :biggthumpup: :woot:

I'll do September or October if you want with the ski that Paul's building a motor for.

My ski is an on going project but I will submit it for October or November w/ the lamey an TL installed. Once winter rolls around we should be seeing more projects start up. We can do Sjwebers boat......that is pretty sick.

Ask Superramjet to do a build page w/ video. When lakeman get his complete that would be cool as well. X-jetter has a nice ski with pleanty of pics. The cool thing about freestyle boats is that they are all custom. Wammer probably has a few skis as well as Riva's like 85+mph GP1200. Maybe I can talk to Jeff at Waterdawgs and get some pics of ski he has done int he past. He like to keep things super secret as well but he might share some older stuff he has.

Honestly, it's amazing, zero interest from anyone until I announce it's gone. There wasn't even an August custom and we're 1/2 way through the month before this discussion came up and now everyone has ideas?

Also, the whole point of Custom of the Month is to showcase something new, or different, or whatever, but it needs to be special for some reason.

You (or anyone else for that matter) didn't offer it up for discussion until you announced it was gone. :frown:

When mine's done it'll have new and different turf, along with a new and different motor, as well as a new and different handlepole. :smile:

This feature kinda' reminded me of the "Custom Corner" that Splash Magazine used to have. How many Big-Pimpin', High-Dollar, Lenzi/Malone wannabe skis are really out there? Could we try to keep the Custom of the month for the regulars here with a "Headliner Custom" once or twice a year? Hell---we got enough now to wrap up 2006. :biggthumpup:

X-H2O's new section "The Vault" showcasing custom created skis that are made specifically for pushing the envelope of freestyle/freeriding riding. :biggthumpup: What do you think Darin?

Set a criteria that the ski has to meet in order to inducted in to the The Vault :Banane01: Must be something different, having both custom looks and performance upgrades. That would be sweet to have each person have a short video of the ski running so we can hear it and see it shredd. :cool2:

I like that the best because it take a long time to get a custom made PWC.
I see that no one as interest in my custom surfabout and it is OK with me but for a custom it is a custom and I have put so much work to this PWC and no one is interested to know more. I understand that you guys swear by sj or sxr, so you guys should get your feet out of the foothold and look around there is more like me that have built some strange conception to be used as a PWC and no place to show case our work as inventor or creator like I like to say.

Have the moderators deliborate over the applicants and you will not know it is accepted until it is posted. :biggthumpup: Could be posted anytime. Have an little drum roll if you will by making a post indicating a new ski will be unvailed in 1 week prior to the post. Include finished pics of the ski first, list of modification in the following catagories: Hull, driveline/pump, and motor; and include some pics of what the ski started out as (if available). Not to many pics of the build up process, all the detail is better left for the build pages. Just give an overview of the ski's mods. Then have a link to the build up page for specific on the building process.

all i know is this....... i forget who it was....... but the guy who had the old blue and white cobra replica (i assume it was a replica) and the lifted ford pickup in the background of all his pics when he did a build up thread....... that guy needs to be the example of a "custom build up" thread

I tried to get raven1969 ski on here a while back it just never happened. why not just pick some one from the build up forum and ask them to do a summery. they prob wont mind doing it since they already have one thread in. I think the custom of the month should be a showcase for the board members to show off there skis. and the skis that make it should be the best the x has to offer. I dont see the point in getting non mebers skis on here. maybe add a little feature in the buldup forum that we can vote on the lets we the people choose what skis deserve to represent the X?
