Hmm tell me about it, my motors on the bench at the moment. Had a base gasket fail, luckily caught it in time just needed a hone and rings. Hopefully be back in for the weekend.
Superjet is next on my shopping list to, if only people would sell them over here.

^^^Yea, I have no complaints of the stock steering, works fine for me. The UMI looks sweet, but its alot of $. Is the UMI any lighter? Im all about taking off weight. lol, like 2lbs means ********.

Nice Blaster shepster (http://www.x-h2o.com/member.php?u=491). I like the rich blue.

Is the UMI any lighter? Im all about taking off weight. lol, like 2lbs means ********.I switched to the UMI and its not really lighter. If I didn't already have a UMI setup from another Blaster I wouldn't have bothered and would use the money in other places. The one thing the UMI does is allow slightly faster turning ratio and moved me (grips) forward and a little lower (this is adjustable mind you).

But of course just trying to perfect nose stabs, dont want to get to carried away until i get some extra glass in her.

FL-cracker
08-11-2006, 12:24 PM
^^^^I would like to know if it is realy necessary to put extra glass in B1's? I have done some big surf nose stabs, and alot of flat water subs, and have not seen any sighns of stress yet. I just did my transom, and it should be good to go forever.

shepster
08-11-2006, 12:50 PM
Think they go around the hood lip on lid and where the seal goes on hull. My Transom is in need of glass so a little extra wont do any harm. All part of a days work so should turn out nice:biggrin:

If your doing rolls, it is necessary! Not even for comming up short. The lower sides of the hull are large and take quite an impact. The weak spot seems to be where the lower edge meets the bottom of the hull. I just reinforced mine just lie a super. Hood lip area all the way gown to the bed plated and just rolled it ontop of the bedplates. Filled the seam with filler, like on a super as well.

And of course the transom. I will post pics of that later. I used the Butti method and blended the lip in.

There might be a few of these still floating around.. I have had good luck with them.. you really don't notice a change untill you go back and ride one without the spring.. they are a little easyer on the wrists

We bought the one from Jersey, yes it has twin pipes. It uses the two of the three pipes from the GPR factory pipes. It also has a fully TJ ported motor, hig compression, total loss, and Novis. If you think this ski is too heavy to race, you are wrong. It will stay neck and neck with my non PV lamey 6mm in a B1. Plus, it is a caddilac to ride. Comfortable and stable. Nice ski, but still not a B1. What makes the B1 so much fun is that it takes skill to ride, not comfortable and stable!

Power wise, I think they are pretty similar. The B1 is a lot lighter, but the twin pipes help alot on top end of the 800. Put them side by side and say go and they are as close as two skis can get. Neither is as fast as my Mod, but my mod is quite a bit lighter than the stock hulled B1 or the 800.

I wouldn't turn any of them down!

i was thinking of putting a 800pv in a spare b1 hull i have. i have a set of pipes that look like they will fit. i would have thought you could get more power out of a 66e motor seeing you start with 120hp stock.

You have to understand, both of my Lameys are plus 155hp motors. I suspect my TJ built PV is quite a bit more than that. I doubt you will get the twins in the B1 hull, if you do, you are good. The Euro is a huge ski, and they barely fit in it. I have a nice 6mm Lamey I will sell you that will make your spare hull skoot on down the lake at a nice pace. :)

do it, you can get more power out of that 66e motor. Ask pat, he is very familiar with the 66e motor platform and has alot of go-fast stuff. Those guys are leaving them 800cc to stay legal for racing, if your not racing you can go much bigger with the bore.

I'll try to get you some pics tonight. The pipes are actually two of three Factory GPR1200 pipes. Don't know why TJ went with them, but it works.

i have put the pipes up to the 701 and they look like they will fit. i know the 800pv is a bigger motor so not sure. i think with a hammer maybe gas tank mods it would be doable. i have the speedwerx 1200r pipes

Here's my BBB (basic black blaster).
I painted it my self with base coat clear coat auto paint.
Came out okay.
Has a Riva (pain in the a$$ to install) red pipe, Riva f/a and Riva toploader intake.
Protaper minibike bars cut 40mm on each end.
Bilge pump.
Taped the head for a 5/16 water bypass, makes the pipe run dryer for more power.
Stock motor so far.
