Mac brought credibility to Hydrospace.
You know the racing industry has changed when someone like Mac gets dropped. :261:

In conversations with Mac, I cant really recall that he loved the HSR...He liked it, but said that he made several changes to his....

My understanding is also that the decision wasn't purely motivated by the machine he was riding. As always in an in environment like this, there is also a political/personal element.

Despite the let down in the Pro ranks, the Hydrospace dominated in every other class it had entered, mostly Juniors Stock and Limited classes.
well what did you think would happen when some spoiled brat tells mommy and daddy they want that and wanna go race, they are gonna buy it for them and wax everyone in the class
i HSR demise came down to too much fanfare and an upfront cash outlay.... they spread themselves too thin and not being able to cover the costs. why else would they dump one of the best riders of the world and pull out of competition almost entirely?
if there had been some tie with KTM but the article said there wasn't, i firmly beleive they cut their losses while they still had a chance

Can't wait to see Macc in Havasu on an sxr and a couch again.......

This is how I see it...
Hydrospace tryed to get too big too fast. The results were marginal at best. So they are might be Kaput or they are scaling back to regroup and get things done right.
The Ski Class will be great again in Havasu with some good contenders in there.
The Runabout class will be great too now that Farthing will have some competition...
As far as how I feel overall about this. I think it could provide a much needed boost to racing in the US. Mac has not raced here (outside of the World Finals) since the West Coast Motosurf Tour of 2003. This now could potentally bring some much needed life into the Pro end of things here in the States. Hopfully the APBA National tour this season was just a begining and will grow with years to come. Or Hopfully the IJSBA brings back a National Tour of their own.

the apba is the US sanctioning body for the IJSBA..... to make it a national tour they need to double the # of stops to 6
it should be norcal one weekend then either so-cal or havasu the next.... two week break then to texas and somewhere near the detroit area and then two more weeks off then rochester and somewhere down south i.e lake norman

Not to get too far off topic, but there is some of the best race sites in the nation are in the midwest... (they are pretty cheap if not free too when it comes to hiden costs like parking and random passes). Remember the Great Lakes are up here (aka: Fresh water surf conditions)

I heard that HS was cheating with Mac's ski. He got DQ'd from and event and that really pissed him off. He quit HS.
I totally agree with Chopper. Anyone who was at Nationals this past weekend saw Macc crush the competition on an SXR. I hope he continues to race in the states. I think his status and presence would be a positive force for the sport here in the states.
And not only would he bring life and competition to the pro end, he would be pulling in more enthusiasts/racers like myself who want to see the guy race and learn from him. I'll travel to race the same events as Macc. Even if I am still nervous class.

QUOTE:Big Kahuna hey Ceebee, did you race??
Sure did! I scored 8th in Novice Ski Stock and 10th for National Highpoints. I hope my third year racing will get better.
Congrats on your podium finish in Am. Freestyle!
I saw Mac race for the first time ever. What a monster! I hope he stays here and races the tours. Racing in the states needs his presence and status.

1. Hydrospace is not homologated (legal) here in the states
2. Thanx to HSR, there is no aftermarket companies that make parts, therefore it is impossible to find aftermarket support for a privateer shop racing effort.
With the SX-R, companies are calling us, looking to help out with Chris' efforts because they have new parts they want to develope, market, and sell.
It goes a little something like this...
- Macc Racing teams up with aftermarkets to make Chris the fastest SXR and 15F we can.
- From there we will have new engine specs, ride plate and scoop grate prototypes, and countless other new tech from testing
- Chris goes out and wins with the new product
- The aftermarkets put the new parts into production, and we ship it out to the customer
We get the latest and greatest, they get a world class rider to help develop sound product, and we both get to sell the hell out of it, and the general public gets access to the same equipment the top teams use. Everyones happy.

Big K,
What boat number were you? I sure would have like to met you, unless maybe I did down on line. I was in Chris' qualifier, but not the LCQ. Big #3.

Yeap, I think that you were lined up on my right side. We may have chit-chatted for a minuted during the hold up. Oh well, maybe next time I'll be able to say "hi" off the track.
Oh yea, that was probably my best race ever so thank you for not crushing me on the start :)

hmmmmmmmm, was that the start where you would have had some guy right on your rail up the the first turn (kinda behind a bit??)
remember one start where I was pushed to the left, not sure if that one was the race that got red flagged.........
Jeremy S.
09-08-2006, 11:36 PM
The first run (red flagged one) Chris got a good jump on the far right. The guy on pole got a great start too. You and I ran pretty damn fast into that first turn. The guy on pole got smoked, I think you were about the back edge of my ski going into it. On the restart Chris got ate up on the far outside.
In the main, I blew 2 outside holeshots and came up in 7th overall. After getting up close and personal with the lake about 1/3 of the way into it, I ran out of talent.

This year (Nats), I was not with it like I should have been, 2 years ago, I got 4th in my qualifier......... I call myself in better shape with better equipment (04 setup was really stock!!!!!!!!! Jetting, Grate, Bars.......... Had the ski this time, it just did not have a rider that could go the distance!!!!!!! LOL
Jeremy S.
09-09-2006, 12:04 AM
I hear ya. I held 2nd for only about 4.5 laps, then lost 3rd when 4th hit me about lap 6-7. After that the next few went by and thats about where I stayed. There is no way in hell that I could have ran that pace for 15 laps :17: MEDIC!

Man. I look like a total rookie. Tongue hangin' out :tongue2: , goggles in the wrong spot. :17: I was as gassed out as I looked. I really could have used more sleep the night before. :trink26:
Jeremy on the other hand, he looks strong and in form. That must have been on the holeshot!
Thanks for the awesome pics Ronnie! Hopefully next year, I'll have that ski stylin' with a new paint job and maybe some new rail caps
