Very tight... I had to use pry bars to get it in.
It looks absolutely, positively awesome. Great work, Trav!

How did you end up mounting the motor in that hull? I want to do this to one of my skis but am a little leery on what all needs to be done.

I will get some pictures of my mounting Thursday night. I had to pull the motor out to change some stuff around in order to align my drive shaft.

Wow you used a stock drive shaft? I set my 1100 back to keep the lbs even in the hull.

Yaeh stock shaft. I rode it today for about 2 min. Weight propotion wasnt to bad. It cavates heavilly, runs alittle hot and I melted one of the exhaust tubes. Got to order some stuff this week and try again next weekend.

time for a big hub impeller

08-02-2009, 10:44 PM
Yeah for sure. Ive got a 750 pump I was going to put in it but do you think I would be ok with the 650 with the right prop? I heard the 650 was better for top end thats why I tried it first.

cutback sxr impeller will do just fine in the 650 pump. try a 15-20

I liked my SXR swirl I got from shawn and I cut it back as close as I could get it ! now course this was a case ported sp 750 not an 1100 either. Nice work Classic_speed

Thanks. The prop is a stock SXR or a Skat Swirl for an SXR?

Dang!! That's awesome! I like the 1100 engine, it's 120hp on like 110psi.
How do you know it was running hot, those thermometer strips? Do you still have the OEM temp sensor on it? Why use the 750 pump over the stock pump?
Yohns Kustom Fabrikation
08-03-2009, 12:03 AM
The thermo strips wernt even registering because the only go up to 140. I do not have the stock temp sensor. I have one ofthe pissers pionted into the tray area and it was super hot there. When I got back to shore however it wasnt hot enough to make water sizzle ontop of the head. I think if it wasnt cavatating I would have plenty of cooling but I guess we will have to see. The 750 pump is easier to work with because it has a rubber seal as upposed to being glued in. Ive also heard its better for bottom end because the center section is larger in diameter.

no the water that comes out of the pisser is very friggen hot! on my stx-1100 it just about burns you when the wind kicks it up at you. its probably fine, just feel all the cylinders when its running in the water and makes sure they are all the same temp.
that is a cool project but that thing is gonna be a pita to work on I bet.
Yohns Kustom Fabrikation
08-04-2009, 05:59 PM
Its more than a pita.... Im going to dual cool it so I can get the temps down a little. Does anyone know what temp. would be considered to hot?
tom21
08-04-2009, 06:03 PM
im betting it is cool motor wise, the water from the pisser is from the exhaust pipe bottom and is much hotter than the motor. its running like it should. you can pop over and ride the stx and see for yourself. that water around the pipe is cooling 3 cylinders of heat - its gonna be a tad warm. lol
Yohns Kustom Fabrikation
08-05-2009, 05:41 PM
The one i was feeling was actually coming off the top of the head. Im going to dual cool as a precaution anyway.

The 1100 motors have problems with running hot, thats why its a good idea to tap each cyl on the head to cool it even. The front and backs get real hot. I dont know if you can do it on a stock head but I have been looking for an Aftermarket head for mine.

The triple Kawi conversion seems to be the new ticket to fast reliable boats. I saw 2 sxr 1100 this season. Both were sick fast and looked to handle well.

Ive never heard that before but it makes great sense. Between the extra head ports and dual cooling i should be set.

That is a great job!
I am also in the process of installing an 1100. I am trying to keep the stock length driveshaft to have the motor foreward, i see that you were able to fit the stock F/A base, so hopefully my ocean pro's will fit also. i MAY go with a 550 tank also, but i have a superjet tank that I will try and make work
Sir, do you have any pics of the actual mounting plate/engine mounts, and how you did the exhaust? thanks!

I am also looking to do this to one of my skis.
I have been watching a couple builders projects and I am starting to get the pieces collected to start.
What bedplate is used?
Is the 750 pump the way to go or what would be the "IDEAL" OEM pump?
I also heard that the 1100 X2 here in California is FOR SALE......Anyone know WHO is selling it and at what $$$$ is asking?

I also picked up a prop. Its a Skat-Trak Swirl 17-22.
thats the prop (literally) I had in my 1100 sxi, bottom end was sluggish but top speed , well , no one could ever hang on long enough without getting pitched..hard
dual cooling is a must and no more than 150 psi for pump gas , keep an eye on the rear cylinder, (its jetted different also)

Here is a link to an actual video of a X-2 with an 1100 in it on the lake.
Enjoy. Turn your speakers up so you can hear the sound....
I have a feeling the price of 1100 engines is going to be going up soon....

Bought this thing as a project and I just finushed it last night let me know what you think. Test run tonight or tomorrow after work. I'll post an update.
I made a custom watrbox and used a 2.5 gallon fuel can as a tank. Looks ghetto but its all I could get to fit with the waterbox up front.

Haha, clean it up a little? That was the day i got it all stuffed in there and she was begging to get wet... No time to make it pretty. Unfortunately I used up all the magic trying to squeeze everything in there so i had to resort to stainless sheet metal for a hood bracket. If you guys are really interested I'll take a pic. Since these pics I did clean it up a lot and moved the battery to a bracket in the back just to the right of the driveshaft. That made a huge improvement with weight distribution.
The first time I took it out it ran great with absolutely no issues. It's ridiculously fast and super responsive. I had my phone on gps spedo mode and it read 53 max... For now. :)
The impeller is about 1.5 inches away from the blades in the pump. If i got it closer do you think I'd gain anything? I'm not too worried about going too much faster but it has enough power to waste so what the heck... Right? Wonder what it would take to get a zxi pump to fit??? I need to add flotation too... Any ideas?

And the 1100 chamber does rub a little but get some of the rubber sheet from under the tank and glue it between it and the hull... Problem solved.

You can try boring the nozzle some and going with a bigger prop. The aftermarket PJS nozzles are 87mm.
