At Matanzas inlet 5/24/09. AllDayJay said some of you guys were there earlier.
2 swimmers with boogie boards got into trouble, 4 beachgoers went in to help. One of the first 2 did not make it. They found his body a couple hours later down near the new inlet.

thats sux bad.

did he get caught in the rip? if so... that is just one more reason that People should welcome jetskiers with open arms to their beaches.

my sympathies to the families.

Yes to the rip. What I said in 1st post was according to the fire/rescue jet ski people. (they loaded at the spot) But the "first story" we got was totally different. A jet-skier with no vest had crashed and they coul'nt find him or the ski. That turned out to be bogus.

are you kidding me? that just doesnt even sound belivable to me. but I guess there are some goobers out there that that could/would happen too. Never underestimate the stupidity of some people, I guess.

I just cant help but think that if there had been some surf riders there that afternoon a life could have been saved.

AllDayJay was there. But he was at the spot (takin' a break) when all the fire trucks and helicopters showed up. He didn't know what was going on at that point. As I said, Jay said some of the surf sluts were there earlier, but had left b4 all this happened.(he described the ski's) maybe ewok,Idok,Aircraftsalz. Bad timing...could have had alot of help.

I was asked to meet them there, and had considered it. but it was too far to drive on a "maybe" as far as the weather was concerned.

I wasn't prepared to dive 3hrs. (round trip) on the hopes that I wasn't going to get rained out. I wish I had gone now.

X2 frank & Jay & me & my wife are going today when I get outta work. Gonna ride some & BBQ down there.
