Who can pick up peeps from LAX to the pismo ride? Wife and I may fly, but need to get to Pismo. Would hate to have to rent a car.
1) Need ETAs to LAX to schedule flight arrivals (wouldn't want 11PM arrivals with 2.5 hr drive?)
2) Return trips also needed (pismo to LAX)
or an alternate Airport to fly in.

I am planning on being in the area for the IFWA event, but I drive a toyota and will have atleast 2 skis maybe 3 with me. I would be able to pick someone up and bring them to Pismo, but after Pismo I'm headed back to the great NW.

Thanks Ross.
Alternatively I do not mind renting a 15 passenger van if others pitch in and carpool.
If anyone else plans to fly in to LAX, let me know if you are interested in this option.
Possible tow vehicle... maybe.
Capps Van Rental in Katy (rented that weekend) is $109 + $ .20/mile. About 400 miles round trip less 200 credit = 200 miles @ .20 = $80. So for about $200 in rental + taxes (75) + 2 tanks of gas ($175) (20 gal tank at 12MPG) divided between 10 people = $45 to $50 round trip LAX to Pismo (approximation).
Anyplace in LA like this:

If you all can, see how much it is to fly in to Santa Barbara Air port. It probably isnt cheaper but, if it is, SB airport is much closer to Pismo. If we can coordinate it correctly and if I bring the Motor home, I can haul a bunch of people from SB to Pismo. I live about half way between SB and LAX.

Might also look into flying into Ontario instead of LAX. LAX is an effing nightmare.

I really don't think LAX is that bad. It does suck, but Ontario is further south than LAX, so the time you'll save on flying into Ontario is going to be the same as the time spent at LAX. And depending on when you drive and the direction you'll drive, you'll most likely pass LAX anyways, so your gonna have more traffic. Just my opinion. I might try Burbank airport though.

Man, I've been lagging on you guys - sorry about this.....if you want to fly in local (like 20 miles away) the closest airport is Santa Maria, CA....served by United Airlines it looks like. I've picked folks up who flew in from back east last year the last two years, and most flew through LAX or Vegas on a quasi-puddle jumper but got there fine and the air fare wasn't bad at all....here's a handy link showing the flight schedules in and out:

Likewise, you can literally WALK to the beach/campsite (about 2 miles) from the train station in Oceano, so that may be an option.
Hope that helps,
Lisa
