Winter X2

Here is my project x2 for the winter. Let me know what you guys think. Have any paint color ideas? I want to be different, but I am not getting any air brushing done. I have some other pics of the hull and guts. Found this ski in perfect running condition and decided to kill it and give it more power....

This was a true case of disrespecting an absolute mint condition hull. Not a scratch to be found until the cut off wheel and sawzall found it!
Don't be a puissy, paint it pink!

I will tomorrow. Just got done with the second coat of filler. I'll sand it tomorrow and it should be ready... Then chop city. I am going to take 2" off the back. That way I can fully utilize the trim piece.

i have tried many x2s and i dont like riding them without the back cutoff i like that loose feeling and they handle way better when chopped, how about orange , it was good enough for pete jacob and his general lee still looks good and it easy to spot in the surf

I have the motor in.. I tried fitting the chamber in, but it is going to take some finagling.. Its fricking tight!!.. It will work.. Just need some elbow grease and a grinder.. Didn't have the patience for it tonight.. Looks pretty sweet installed though! I attached a pic. Let me know what you think

Most have to atleast grind that mount off of the exhaust manifold. What kind of manifold is that? A Coffman? If so don't gring it! I will buy/trade you a West Coast that has the opening bored out and the mount ground already.

Hey DBR.. It is a west coast mani. I am going to take it to the same guy that polished all my other parts and have him ground it off and polish it. Thanks for the offer though.

Cool. Have him bore it and the head pipe both to 47 or 48mm for a little more flow.
I have just been searching for a Coffman 650 manifold forever. I had one once but sold it to someone else. Sucks...

Thanks for the compliment... I have def considered it.. right now, I just want to hear it run. Once I know all is well, I might take it over to the polishing guy and have him powder coat it the same color as my chamber. Will see. I have dumped so much cash into this build that I need to chill for a few weeks. If I get it done, I will post the pics for all to see. Thanks for the comps though

Permatex RTV Clear Silacone. You can get it at any autoparts store. It is the single best stuff to use. Group K recommend it to me years ago and I haven't used anything else since.

Well, I managed to get some actual work done today on the ski. I put the pump in, cut the ride plate down to size and mounted the nozzel. The proceeded to hook up the trim. What a nightmare. Lets just say, it took a few minutes and some bad words. But, it looks and works great. Thanks again x2guy for the piece. Here are some pics of it mounted. In the middle of trouble shooting my total loss system, I heard some rattling around in the motor housing. NOT GOOD. I tore the motor down to find a bad crank and bearings all over the place. NOT GOOD. Needless to say, SBT just got an order and I hope this will be the last of my problems. Atleast I will honor motorheads request to have the motor painted. I have sent it to the famous polishing gut for some more bling action and powder coating. I'm posting some before pics and I will post some after pics end of next week, when I get everything back. This ski is becoming one heck of a trailer queen....

I like the clean no-nonsense theme going on here.
This get's me motivated to rebuild the wifes 780x2 for ultimate blingage, and clean up some loose ends.
What's cooking for pump/prop/bildge?

Here are some quick snap shots I took tonight after i got done cutting the hood out to fit the gynormous pipe. Anyhow, carb is hooked up, fuel pump is sucking gas and this beotch is ready to run. I have to hook up my throttle cable and put my PA registration on, and in the water she will go. Just keep your fingers crossed.

what does taking 2 inches off the back of the ski do exactly?

what does taking 2 inches off the back of the ski do exactly?
Let's the back of the ski sink deeper into the water. It makes the nose feel lighter. It also improves turning. Imagine the turning radius of a car vs a truck, shorter turns faster. The back sinking deeper probably helps keep the pump from breaking free so often.
