this ski is going to have a fixed pole setup similar to the sj in the old visser freeride video

Haha, I love Hardcore/Metalcore, my wife hates it. I have thier messengers cd, but not that one. If I had something besides dialup i would get you guys a vid of them. "Your Little Suburbia is in Ruins" is a great song/vid, the lead singer makes some funny faces. I dont drink coffee in the mornings, just pop in ABR and crank it up, the double bass is nice to hear when you first wake up. Its great music to listen to b4 going jetskiing. They pretty much set the standard on metalcore. Have you heard of Seventh Star? I think they're from Florida.

This build is gonna be nice, like a lightweight hard hitting x2. Nice wide stance, that things gonna be wild. Motor mods?

nice ! that is some serious holds.

I just wonder how hard they would be to turf with pointy wings.
Personally I'd cut them on a more forward angle at the top so your shins don't get banged up on landings and so your legs can bend further.

that was my .02 as well, but john LOVES these style of enclosed holds.....
he actually trimmed them down a hair last night and it made them look a little more forgiving..
no turf job is difficult with heat :smokin:

a little progress
glassed up the tray, footholds and pump
installed drain into pump cavity
finished kaw driveline
also did a halfassed carbon reenforcing job inside (according to idok):nana:

Cool !
notice there are no pix of that!
I guess a complete carbon job would detract from your fancy paintjob and topnotch glassing skillz

This is going to be SICK!! Nice work. I can't wait to have a fixed steer yamaha. I LOVE those gunwhales/holds, looks killer.
So you run smaller id. bearings in the SJ housing, and different seals?

i press fit the whole core of a kawi mid bearing into a yamaha housing.one or both parts need to be machined to make it work.
if someone were to find the right bearings and seals to pull it off witout machine work they would a :-):-):-):-)ing hero to many im sure!

care to share the part #'s ? or is it a secret:shrug:

No secret.
It was in my build thread.
Seals I'm using Timken 100115977. Size 20x52x7. They are double lip seals with a spring on one lip. I can't find the number for the bearing but it was similar to one found in McMaster-Carr. #5972K56. Its double sealed and can spin up to 9000 rpm.
Bearings have the same slip fit on the driveshaft as the stock kawi, and same press fit in the yam housing as stock yam bearings.
Only problem is neither is stainless. I just looked at the spring on the seal and it is rusting. Bearings still seem fine.
I've only put about 20 hours on this setup 4 hours of which in the salt.
I missed this bofore somehow.
Awsome project! I love it
I had the site bookmarked that showed the visser pole support setup. You gonna weld up an alum support for the pole similar to that?

Crap, link is dead now. It was: http://www.jetsport.de/gallery_africa.htm
http://www.jetsport.de/index.html works, but the old pics of that ski are gone.
It was welded to the bottom of an alum pole and strapped down.

shes in primer!
i have hok candy purple for the bottom and the pole.i was planning to do the topdeck and hood white..but i just stumbled on some black leftover from the "rusty" build that would prolly look great with the sweet tart purple.
option three is silver as its the basecoat for the candy purple so i already have that too
now im totally confused:banghead:

900/1100zxi driveshaft works with no modification(thanks flash!)
the only thing that needs modified is the int.bearing and some glasswork in the pump mounting area
im not much of a kawi fan but i will add that this driveline setup seems bulletproof to me

Thanks butti.
Yeah the kawi driveline is super simple.

here are some new pics.the tray is glassed up and the caker foothold is done.i had to add onto both sides to make it wide enough for my spacious tray:biggrin:
the motor is built, now theres just a handfull of parts i need to finish this thing.
i went with the purple and white like stock and it will have a stock looking fx1 logo on the sides
