Its actually (obviously) a different ski. I posted on craigslist looking for parts skis for the hull we picked up and this guy emailed me saying he had a complete ski. Well we negotiated $400 for it and he ended up not being able to get a spark out of it. The engine turns over and has compression of 114 and 117. This seems good to me.... although i dont know if it is high enough. We ended up getting it for $250. I havent seen it in person yet but my brother says it looks even better than in the pictures. We have a couple little things to fix on it before it goes in the water. First of all, the hull takes on water. The previous owner put a bilge in and put the hole below the waterline :banghead: . Also, the guy said when he put the ski back together water came in through the driveshaft hole because he did not seal it properly. So we gotta solve the spark problem (stator?), put in a bilge and proper hole, and fix the driveshaft seal (whats the best way to do this?) and we will be on the water. Oh yeah.... forgot to add. The guy said the motor only has 10 hours on a rebuild. It has sat for the past three years.

114 and 117 is too low.... you should be between around 140-150 psi.
as for the drive shaft bearing on the hull you should either get a repair kit or replace it. if the other hull has one try switching them around. try buying a manual they are a big help and will tell you what to look for when trouble shooting. you can find them on ebay all the time.

All I can seem to find is these manuals on CD's. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kawasaki-Jet-Ski-X2-JS650SX-service-manual_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ26453QQihZ002QQi temZ4629730531QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V It seems like these could be a scam or illegal or somthing. Anyone know about this?

Anybody??? Also I have another question. The bars in the pics (I havent seen it yet) look different than the pink bars on the bare hull. Which style is better for rec riding/freestyle? How much time can I expect to have into fixing the stator and how difficult is it? Is there anything else that can cause problems with having no spark?

could be a wooddrift key or a cdi.... as for bars i have umi on my modded ski and renthal on my stock x2. both are great for freestyle/freeride.pictured is my umi on my modded x2

PM'ed you about that Stator. What is a wooddrift key? Is there any way I can test to see if it is the stator and not the electrical box or vice versa before we just go swapping parts? Also, do you know anything about those manuals on CD that I posted from eBay. Do you know if they are legit (or at least manuals that we can use until we can find a book one)? We need to get this thing running in two and a half weeks so I need to get something fast.

BTW Sweet lookin X2. Is that paint you have on there bedliner or something? I like the textured look. It looks like the bedliner I have sprayed on the outside of my jeep

i've never used the manuals on cd before. i got lucky and found a book on ebay awhile back. with ebay its always a risk so if the money is right go ahead a buy it. the wooddrift key is a little piece of metal that sits in a groove on your crank shaft and the flywheel. its what keeps them in sync and what makes the flywheel spin around the stator.if it is sheared off it would hinder your spark.

the paint on my x2 is bedliner with a matelic flake clear over it. i cleared it so stickers would stick to the hull and takes away the roughness of the liner. the bedliner makes it really durable. i see all these skis that go out into the ocean and get chips and scratches in there paint so instead of spending a crap load of loot on a paint job and for it to look like a piece of junk after a few rides we went with the bedliner/stealth look.:sneaky:
