I'm looking for suggestions for handling mods for my Octane. I already have tubbies and the aluminum version of the stock ride plate. I race in the supercourse endurance races in Texas. I am having trouble with it coming out of the water when I try to accelerate out of sharp turns. I'm sure this is adding to my fatigue toward the end of the race. If anyone has found a good way to control this I would appreciate suggestions.

Thanks, Shawn

I know of hull extensions and one or two ride plates that are available, but I was advised against using them. I would like to know other people's exprerience.

Don't know if you will get much race-worthy info here. Most of us are riding our Octanes for Freestyle/Freeride. If Prem1x is hiding out there, he might have some good suggestions for ya.

I still run bouys for fun with my red Octane...
I would suggest drilling another mounting hole for your steering cable on the turn-nozzle. Put the new hole further in towards center. It will make the ski turn alot sharper and quicker.

I have used the very long Worx rideplate, and it helps keep the nose down, but seems to make the handling suffer everywhere else. I actually get around a course faster with a shorter plate that I fabricated.

Body position seems to be the other trick. If I go into a fast, sharp turn, I try to bury the nose as the ski decelerates, stand way forward in the tray, leaning all your weight against the tubbies. Stand up tall & bring your back foot forward some too... It feels really weird like you're gonna go over the bars, but it will stick and let you snap the turn quicker, lean over more (unlike an Octane is supposed to) and come out of the turn flatter.

Hope that helps. BTW, I have the WORX plate that I would probably sell if youre interested and want to try it.
