even before i push the start button, when i go to hook up the positive & negative cables to the battery sparks start shooting.......

like if the neg cable was connected and i go to hook up the postive, sparks from the positive,

same with negative...

when i do get both connections on, nothing happens when the start button is pushed..........

hey i had a similar problem with my 550, ended up frying some wires so be careful, my problem turned out to be a missing ground.

there should be a ground wire running from the neg battery to the engine somewhere AND there should be one running from the e-box case to the engine somewhere. the second is the one i was missing. in my case the e-box was arcing over to the jet power exhaust elbow....

hope you get it fixed.

haha i need a SJ.....

yah i thought it was the ground wires, i know i connected the neg wire from the battery to the bolt ok, maybe it's the box. i'll check that, clean all the contacts and put in a new battery.........

yeah it confused me at first because no other ski i have ever worked on had a ground wire from the case of the e-box....

hummm time to clean the contacts and put in a right battery..

if i did have a wrong battery (it went to a kawi ZXI) would this happen?

Nope. Any 12v battery would work. I've jump started my 550 off car batteries many times. Make sure you don't have the polarity backwards. That would cause your sparking problem.
