Did my graphic card just die?

so my vista score was 4.7 and now its dropped to 3.4

but why all of a sudden would it drop nearly a point and a half? not sure how long its been like this

i disabled the card in device manager first and then uninstalled the driver and it uninstalled properly. booted back up, it re-enabled itself and updated the drivers

the SS does not show, but i did clicked the update my scoor thing,, but it dident change anything after the update.
still getting a low score,, but not as low as with the card disabled. (got a 1 then) Can a card like halfway break? idk wuts goin on

i grabbed that driver update from HP (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3650971) is their a newer one?

currently
driver date: 2/26/2008
version: 7.15.11.7432

My lappy is hp Pavilion dv9700t
vista 32
GeForce 8400M GS

and yeah everyone says the vista scores dont mean much.. but if nothing has changed why would it drop, and quite a bit i might add,, thats just what has me worried.

You'd know if your graphics card died. U wouldn't be able to see anything.

There's other areas to system performance then just the graphics card...

great so when i turned in my lappy in november to get it fixed,, they replaced it with the wrong card. Only took an hour long phone call for them to verify this.. looks like i'm going to be out another 2 week... which most likely means 3weeks from my past experiences, on top of the holiday business bog and shipping backups. oh well, :-):-):-):-) happens at least i dident loose all my data

The only good warranty....and I mean this.......is one where a tech comes out to your house (multiple times if need be) and fixes it in front of you.

This leaves Dell and local builders and that is it.

Anyone else who claims good on site service is fool of complete crap. Even if they sell it, it may take a week or more (usually 2!!!) for the tech to even get the part and then he has to schedule you.

Apple and Sony are by far the worst I have ever seen and make zero apologies for it. Both VERY arrogant from the top down.

I am sure exceptions exist.

Steve Jobs is a complete dik.

And if you bought something at Bestbuy and take it abck to the geeksquad expect the same problem to still exist also. They are an assembly line and pay no mind to details.

I clean up after them quite a bit.

Example: Their is currently a vista update that is killing Toshiba laptops. They either don't know or don't care or are not allowed to tweak your system properly after a complete restore. So the user goes home, gets the update again, and boom....Vista won't load.

apple has given me two iphones ( even though it turned out to be a software bug in the end and no physical issues) a new ipod that has been out of warranty for 1.5 yrs and a new laptop battery
almost no questions asked just serial numbers and what is the problem

actually some of the best support i have found in all of techdom thus far

Yea no biggie to swap stuff out. They all do that semi-well. Except Sony takes up to and sometimes more than a month to do it.

Apple was always slightly better at a 2 week average.

Why should such a simple device have software issues. LOL. Let alone software issues that shipped with thousands of devices.

Still not as bad as Vista shipping on millions of machines with nothing but software issues.

Vista disgusts me. Microsoft should face criminal charges for releasing it IMO. LOL. It is that bad.

And anyone who disagrees does not understand the mechanics of an operating system. The few people saying, "Vista seems OK to me", have not really looked in to all of the major major crap running in the background.

It really should be criminal.

i think with the initial iphone it wasn't fully apple software issues but att's network and how the phone handled tower transfers

it's really a measly processor that does a lot of stuff really well , it just took time to get it all on the same page software wise, network wise and to allow the skimpy processor to work efficiently with it all.
however it also wan't a global issue so perhaps more fault was on parts of the att network

but anyhow microsoft and sony both are at the bottom on my list for sure
