WOW!!! What a trip!!
Thanks to Chris and Rhonda for taking us along while shooting footage for "The Addiction". :woot:
Thanks to Ross Champion for arranging everything, and luring the best freeriders on the west coast to come along. It was so hard shooting pics with so many incredible riders going off! It was amazing.
Lack of sun hurt the quality of photos I can usually get, but the quality of riding was unmatched!
Thanks to Jerry and Serlin for carting our asses all over the place. You guys kick ass!
Here is a few teaser pics. I'll add more to the gallery every day. Rhonda has tons of great pics too, so hang tight, we are workin on em.

The surf sucked ASS this last weekend, but the boys from the West Side still went huge. You should see what they can do when there's good conditions...and I ain't talkin' 'bout no "Monster Hole" ripples either ;)
:::ducking and running:::
If you're interested, you folks might want to start checking flights into the Central or Southern California coast (with rental car if you hit SoCal) in, oh, saaaaaaaaaaay about the third weekend in October. Ship a tent and some sleeping bags for use on the beach, 'cause once you arrive, the show will be so freakishly amazing, you will want to camp on your spot.
More to come.....on that.
RonRon - as usualy, your shots rock. Can't wait to see what the candids from the poolside palapa reveal. As I recall, Friday night got pretty silly, and I heard somehting about this guy losing his dentures in the spa Saturday night....along with his board shorts again - which I REALLY wish he'd kept on.
Dammit - I just rememberd Chris got some footage of me spanking him - eek!
Mike Serlin

Not sure exactly what Lisa was smoking in Mexico ;) but Friday and Saturday the surf was awesome, as you will see from the photos, some of the set waves were well overhead.

that picture doesn't even show the worst of it. By monday, there was hardly anything left. The reinforcement is completely delaminated, and it's flexible almost up to the nose piece.
Funniest part of it is that Ross just isn't a nose smasher. It's not really his style to hit bottom. Guess it's just part of getting used to the SJ. :)

laurel, me and brystine had an awesome time. i think that she was probably the person closest to my age, and i think that we have the same maturity level (mine being very low and hers being very high) so it was nice being able to relate to someone. i had a great time with you and will also. you guys are awesome people.

my advice for the day is.....
DO NOT TRY TO SCALE BUILDINGS IN MEXICO
http://x-h2o.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10082/143%7E0.jpg
I'm so sorry I missed seeing that in person...that is some funny ass ********. Jerry fell from like 15 feet and the debris you see is the crap fell off the building as he was climbing up...
And as far as throwing stuff away goes...I don't chuck it unless I really ********ed up. The only time that I have been purposfully(sp) throwing stuff away is trying doubles...when they are not close I dont see any point in going down with the ship. And because of the forward mometum I don't have any trouble pushing it ahead of me and hitting the eject button. But flips are another thing for me.
My advice for anyone learning to flip..DON'T LET GO FOR ANYTHING!!!
But and this is a really but...
When you go as big as JK does, unless you are going to land perfectly your body will take a huge impact. In that case, I feel it would be much better to throw it away. But you have to have done 100's of flips before you get that level of proficency. And there is for sure a huge art to throwing it away. And does take some practice.
Mike was throwing those away on purpose cause they were not going to land well. I would have ridden them out, but he is learning to get away. Before I grow the ballz to go huge, I will have learned to control the ski better in the air than I do now for a few reasons. A) I'm sick of breaking the nose B) most importantly I don't want to land it flat. I don't have near the control over the SJ air that I do over the FX, but I am working on it.
But for anyone learning, don't throw flips away, that is just asking for trouble. IMHO
IMHO

Thanks Ross. i couldn't agree more. As long as you have your hands and feet connected to your ski, the injuries are much less worse. In fact, the reason I was out for 6 months recently was because I threw away and the ski landed on me. I have had some very very close calls and feel that having the ski land on you can result in some of the worst possible injuries, and might be the only way to actually die jetskiing.
Hang on to your skis!!!

The funny part is, 2 sec after Jerry hit the ground, Vince calmly chimes in with "Belay on!"
:haha:
Guess you had to be there.
