'96 750 SXI - How to get gas tank out?

I recently bought my '96 SXI (bay area ca) and would like to reinforce the inside of the nose because it has a couple stress cracks. Is there an easy way to take the gas tank out or will I need to remove the engine? It looks to me that the stock exhaust is in the way?

Any tips?

take the motor out... doesn't take long. then you can reinforce everything easily.

i just take the motor out with the motor mounts, less chance of breaking a motor mount. You can leave the ebox connected and pull it out all as one. You can check my build thread (link in sig) i re inforced mine over the winter.

Make sure to get the nose by the pole bracket.
