Well I got a set of Dakine Supremo foot straps the other day. I am debating on where to place them. I am also debating on how to attach them. Finally I am debating on which Hydro Turf I would to use.

1.) I need to know the best location for me. I saw this before:

http://www5.ocn.ne.jp/~shinrace/jet/x2-tune3.html

Problem is I don't have any stainless steel hull steps to extend the tray area a little longer. So I can't really do this.

So chck the pics I have posted. I also see a problem having them that far back. I think a little closer to the middle would be better. I do not believe the tray is wide enough to place both mounts in the tray. I don't want to have the strap mounts on the side of the tray either. I feel like if the strap mount is 90 degrees in the one pic it will eventually wear and break.

2.) Now should I use hull inserts and epoxy? That is what I was going to do. Then should I do two inserts or just one? I plan on using the strap twist preventers. I don't want these pulling out of the hull. I also want to be able to remove them on occasion. I do believe I will place the outside strap mount on the bond rail edge. I could probable just drill clear through the hull and use a nut. How about a coarse thread screw or lag bolt? Anyone ever use these?

3.) I am goingot place Hydro Turf on my ski. I planned on just buying a sheet. Now is it worth it to get it with the 3M adhesive already on it? Also how much better is the molded HT over the cut versions? I noticed on my old HT that the ribs started to wear siginifcantly on my X2. On my 650 SX it didn't as bad. I thought of doing the rib version and making them run on a 45 degree angle. I saw an X2 on here like that and it looked good. If not I will go with the diamond pattern. Do you guys like the diamond better? I was in the assumption it is easier to hide mistakes with it when turfing trays. I was just going to do black or dark gray HT anyways.

Guys help me out!!! I don't want my HT or foot holds fu(king up once they are installed. I want them in right the first time!

i have dakines on mine as well. as sfl said go for a ride and note where you comfortably ride with your feet. then go home and mount them in that position.

call hydroturf and get a sheet of the b-stock (its dark grey diamond) its like 20 or 25 bucks a sheet. Ive never been able to find a blemish in a sheet of b-stock compared to the regular stuff. get some welwood contact cement at lowes. and your good to go.

Are you still in Pittsburgh? Malone is doign a demo on July first! I will be there to check it out. H4pyh4nds will be there too from what he told me last night.

I am pretty sure of my location for the straps after a ride on saturday.

Problem still is how to mount them and what type of epoxy to use. I am pretty set on using the hull inserts as shown in the pictures but should I do one or two? I was gonna do two for more strength but I was worried that having two holes close by each other in the hull would make it weaker there and the hull inserts would pull out. I mean that is four inserts per strap! I hope the epoxy is good....

I am going to order some more hull inserts today......

I just drilled and screwed in one side and bolted the outside.

I'd throw some fender washers under those outside nuts.

You are probably going to find that there really isn't that much stress on the fasteners, I woudn't worry too much about them pulling out. And I play hard.

Good deal! Some people said that they would pull out so I was worried.... So we will see once I get them installed. DBR

I dont think they'll pull out but without a washer you'll probably crack the surface of the glass and look bad.
